- Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray, who is seeking his second four-year term in City Hall, will open his campaign office on Saturday. The noon event takes place at 24 E. King St., headquarters for Team Gray.
- Democratic congressional candidate Lois Herr will hold a town-hall meeting on health care reform at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Public Library’s Bates Auditorium, 125 N. Duke St.
- On Sunday, Democratic city Councilman Nelson Polite will hold a 4 p.m. fundraiser for Hizzoner. The event takes place in Polite’s backyard, at 540 North St.
- State Sen. Mike Brubaker and Reps. Tom Creighton and John C. Bear will hold a 50+ Senior Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the Manheim Auto Auction on Route 72 in Manheim. Seniors will have access to a wide array of state and local government information. Representatives will be on hand from more than 60 agencies and departments including Veterans Affairs, Consumer Protection, Insurance and a number of Lancaster County offices. The expo also will feature free health screenings and offer tests for vision, hearing, blood pressure, bone density and more. The event will include a mock auto auction, fashion show door prizes and more. Admission is free. - It looks like a bunch of people upset over the state budget stalemate want to impeach Gov. Ed Rendell. “We’re looking for anybody who wants to join us,” Emmert Rowland, who lives in Waynesboro, told Your4State.com. “The more people, the better. We just don’t think he’s doing a job that’s good for the state.” A representative from Rendell’s office says Mike Kohler and Emmert Rowland’s time would be better spent encouraging local lawmakers to work with their leadership to get a balanced budget on the governor’s desk for him to sign.
