Answer: b) Although the exact origin of the use of “OK” as shorthand for “all correct” is uncertain, the 1837-41 presidency of Democrat Martin Van Buren helped implant the term in the American vernacular. His nickname, based on his Dutch-founded hometown in New York’s Hudson Valley, was “Old Kinderhook” — or “O.K.” for short.
