December weekends are filled with holiday music, and choral music fans, especially, have full calendars and choices to make!
The Wheatland Chorale will sing Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and more at 8 tonight (Friday, Dec. 12) at Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, and 4 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St. (Also Saturday in Wyomissing, see Web site for details.) Tickets are $20 at the door, $15 for students.
The Lancaster Chamber Singers will perform 4 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 14) at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St. Tickets are $15 at the door, $7 for students and free for children 12 and under.
Ensembles small and large: Lorelei, a six-voice female a cappella ensemble will present a free concert 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St. The Marietta Community Chorus will present its 46th annual Christmas cantata, “Gloria,” 7 p.m. Sunday at Reich’s Evangelical Congregational Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Maytown. The Hempfield High School Chorus will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 450 W. Main St., Mountville. An offering will be received.
The Musical Art Society will present a free concert, “Christmas Around the World,” 3 p.m. Sunday at the Salem United Church of Christ, 2312 Marietta Ave. Admission is free. The Lampeter-Strasburg Community Band will hold its Christmas concert Sunday at 7 p.m. at West Willow United Methodist Church, 118 West Willow Road, Willow Street.
The Central Pa. Symphony Orchestra will hold its Holiday Favorites Concert Sunday at 2 p.m. at Deike Auditorium, in Masonic Village’s Freemasons Cultural Center, off High Street, Elizabethtown. Also at Deike Auditorium, the Masonic Village Men’s Chorus will sing Friday at 7 p.m. Both concerts are free.
The Quartetto Gelato will perform a family “Popcorn Concert” Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Brossman Business Complex’s Main Theater, 124 E. Main St., Ephrata., and will present a full-scale concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Leffler Chapel and Performance Center, Elizabethtown College. Cost is $25, $30 adults over 26, $15 ages 19-26, and $1 ages 18 and under.
