Ah, the dreaded staycation! Not that there’s any lack of anything to do around Lancaster. But if a little trip to Harrisburg is in order, you could check out the Kipona Festival or even vote for your favorite fireplug in Shipoke. For the contest, sponsored by the Art Association of Harrisburg and the Shipoke Neighborhood Association, artists were invited to submit designs to decorate fireplugs. The winning artists got to work in July and August, and a public reception for the resulting project, “Plugs in the Poke,” will be held 4-6 p.m. at the Conoy Street Playground (at Race and Conoy streets, off Front Street). Cost is $5. Participating artists are Laurie Viozzi, Rocky Woodling, Mary Lou Dallam, Jason and Nancy Heisler, Erica Kozlovac, Terry Croteau, Julie Neal, Leena Shanoy, Judy Dosch, Christina and Lisa Pepper, Eric Olson, Theresa Bell-Mowery, and Meghan Greene. More information is available at 236-1432.
