Natural art in its natural habitat

07center2-sm.jpgThe Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in Millersburg will present “Ned Smith:Hidden Stories,” an exhibit of works by the center’s namesake, opening Saturday, Aug. 16 and running until Feb. 21. Ned Smith, who was born in Millersburg in 1919 and died in 1985, was an artist, writer and naturalist whose work appeared in Sports Afield, National Wildlife, Pennsylvania Angler, National Geographic and publications of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The exhibit consists of paintings, drawings and sketches that have never been exhibited before, including many created for specific people, borrowed from private collections from as far away as Alaska. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 12 noon- 4 p.m. Directions are available here.
