Want to take “an exciting journey through 300 years of music for solo violin — from Bach to Piazzolla?” That’s what violinist Odin Rathnam has planned for his recital 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Forum in Harrisburg. Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for students, and $140 premium (which includes a private reception). Proceeds will benefit the Else Borges Foundation for Arts Initiatives; founded by Rathnam in honor of his late mother, the foundation is “dedicated to making large discretionary grants to cornerstones of the Harrisburg arts diaspora for specific projects that are deemed daring, ambitious and capable of bring national and international recognition to the artistic quality of the arts in Central Pennsylvania.” For the “rest of the story,” see Rathnam’s blog.
Rathnam, concertmaster of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, has made several memorable appearances in Lancaster with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and will be appearing with the newly formed Pro Musicis Ensemble June 20 at the Barshinger Center.
