Backyard Blanket Movie Theater’s back

Is it summer already? The Backyard Blanket Movie Theater returns to the Leola Freeze & Frizz, 2250 New Holland Pike, this weekend with “Bee Movie” set for 8:30 tonight (Friday, May 9), if the weather permits, and “Blades of Glory” Saturday, May 10. Showings will continue every weekend through August, with G- and PG-rated movies on Friday nights and PG-13-rated movies on Saturday nights. The event is free. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, but don’t bring eats; food and drinks are available.

I’ve started a blogroll, at last. (It’s not finished yet, however.)

Brandy 6/5/08 7:44 PM | I have gone many times last summer and this summer- it is a TON of fun! As long as the weathers nice we go and order some food and ice cream and just sit under the starts and enjoy the movie. It beats the old drive in's- I love it! Have you tried going yet??

BeingReal 6/5/08 9:33 PM | Thanks for the response, Brandy, and welcome to the board. No, I haven't tried yet -- I was still trying to find out how crowded it gets, etc. We'd have young kids in tow, so parking availability is key....unless we want to haul them all the way back to the car when they fall asleep! |
Brandy 6/5/08 10:03 PM | Well there's a crowd but nothing TOO obnoxious. If you come about 20 minutes early like we do (to get snacks or whatnot) you'll have plenty of parking spots to choose from, and a good spot in the lawn too. The haul back to the car is actually only a couple of feet away, which is why we go- it makes taking the little ones to and from the van so convenient.
Thanks for the welcome!

twinmom 6/5/08 11:15 PM | You aren't to bring any snacks? Are the snacks they sell reasonable? |
Brandy 6/6/08 8:11 AM | I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to bring snacks. They have their usual ice cream stuff, fries, sandwiches and whatnot for sale but they sell popcorn for $1.00 too. I've never tried to bring food because they're providing a free movie, I just figured it was only right to support their business even if just buying a few kiddie cones for the kids. (Or my favorite frozen mini sundaes!) Now I'm craving one.. |

Thanks. I just wanted to be prepared. Sometimes the kids eat a lot! We would buy something there, but in case they wanted more I didn't want it to turn out costing as much as going to the theater. Mini sundaes sound good to me too!
