Music for Everyone’s grant presentation at the Art Park on the corner of Prince and Chestnut streets drew a big crowd for May’s First Friday. The organization, which supports music education in schools, handed out over 21,000 in grants, and plenty of musicians were on hand to celebrate. Among them, with a bank of drums, xylophones and glockenspiels and other percussion instruments, were members of Burrowes Elementary School’s world music ensemble, shown here. Those not playing instruments could try out the Hula Hoops.
(Next First Friday will see the release of the first Music for Everyone CD — see more here.) After rain or the threat of rain overshadowed the last four First Fridays, it was great to see a good turnout on a pleasant evening. More on First Friday tomorrow!
