A visit to the Landis Valley Museum on a sunny Sunday Charter Day. It was packed with people watching the blacksmith at work, wandering in and out of the buildings, getting
up close and personal with pigs and horses (and not so close to the sheep, who preferred to doze in the sun), checking out the pair of oxen, who patiently bore the scrutiny of the crowd with the same uncomplaining patience they bore their yokes, and taking horse-drawn wagon rides over the grounds.
The original charter is on display now at the State Museum of Pennsylvania. And here’s more about the man who started it all.
