Political journalists can be so stupid.
Case in point being this GOPolitico piece on Drudge’s “fascination” with the declining dollar, noting that stories of the greenback’s descent have been all over Drudge this October, and gee, why might that be?
I give you one guess. And to its credit, even GOPolitico figures it out - in the 16th paragraph:
Drudge also has tried to tie President Barack Obama to the dollar’s plunge.
There is one reason and one reason alone why Drudge spotlights this stuff on his site - he’s trying to discredit Obama.
That’s his rationale every single day. And you know, good for him; it’s his site, he can do what he wants with it.
But why in the world would Politico pretend, or attempt to pretend, that it’s anything but that? That in itself is dishonest. Which is why someone (not me) came up with the “GOPolitico” bit in the first place…
That’s leading some to conclude that Drudge’s conservative politics are playing a part in his focus on the issue.
“I think Drudge has been taking a page out of Fox News’ playbook,” said Adam Penenberg, a journalism professor at New York University and author of “Viral Loop: From Facebook to Twitter, How Today’s Smartest Businesses Grow Themselves.”
“Because Republicans have been making hay over their belief that America is becoming weak, its “socialist” economy in shambles, stories on the falling dollar help buttress this worldview,” Penenberg said.
Yep. Drudge, too, wants Obama to fail - and if that means he has to help take down the dollar in order to ensure that, he will.
Why is this so hard for the Politico to grasp?
