Keep on trickling

Bob Hebert in the NYT:

We’ve spent the last few decades shoveling money at the rich like there was no tomorrow. We abandoned the poor, put an economic stranglehold on the middle class and all but bankrupted the federal government — while giving the banks and megacorporations and the rest of the swells at the top of the economic pyramid just about everything they’ve wanted.

And we still don’t seem to have learned the proper lessons. We’ve allowed so many people to fall into the terrible abyss of unemployment that no one — not the Obama administration, not the labor unions and most certainly no one in the Republican Party — has a clue about how to put them back to work.

Meanwhile, Wall Street is living it up. I’m amazed at how passive the population has remained in the face of this sustained outrage.

It’s because Glenn Beck tells us that Wall Street is blameless - it’s ACORN and SEIU that are the real problems.

For to be OUTRAGED!!! (I mean at the growing economic disparities, not the perpetual unfocused right-wing rage) would require America to repudiate something it learned under Ronald Reagan: Trickle-down economics.

We cannot continue transferring the nation’s wealth to those at the apex of the economic pyramid — which is what we have been doing for the past three decades or so — while hoping that someday, maybe, the benefits of that transfer will trickle down in the form of steady employment and improved living standards for the many millions of families struggling to make it from day to day.

That money is never going to trickle down. It’s a fairy tale. We’re crazy to continue believing it.

No, the rationale was actually expressed perfectly in a comment over at Kunstler’s place:

but Jim, free enterprise is the cornerstone of our democracy. we can’t let obama take away our freedoms (ie: our “right” to buy crap) with his radical socialist agenda. goldman sachs employees deserve those bonuses for pulling themselves up by their boot straps. i may wake up a billionaire tomorrow i don’t want my pipe dreams of wealth redistributed to welfare queens and illegal aliens!

Thank you for watching Fox News, and goodnight!

Great example of "Trickle Down" Fox Bashing. Did you get your talking points for today??

Let's try to guess who is next on the hit list...

Andrew Wilkow? John Gibson?

No, Michelle Malkin should be next. Loser Misogynist Olbermann already has been working her over.

But is a strategy for losers, won't work.

It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the "internet" meeting tomorrow.

Prepare yourselves.

Let me ask (for those of you who's mother and father aren't brother and sister, bear with with me), why do you suppose the Whitehouse is not refuting the questions and statements levied against them?

When you cannot defend - ATTACK!

It is going to get worse.

Let me ask you this: When did you stop beating your wife? Just answer the question!

Later...Shawn
