I’m a racist, but how dare you call me a racist!

Ah, I see the wingers are in full tizzy mode (actually their default mode) because El Rushbo has been dropped from the group looking to purchse the St. Louis Rams.
It’s all so unfair! And Limbaugh, of course, protests that he’s not racist, he’s never been racist…
It’s just that he has a looooooong history of saying racially charged things. Media Matters has the canonical list.
What’s really going on here is this: White Limbaugh listeners (is there any other kind), and maybe Rush himself, are angry that they have the occasionally racially-charged thought - and aren’t allowed to express it.
Doesn’t mean they’re full-time racists, doesn’t mean they keep a white hood in the glove compartment. But I know plenty of guys like this, who start out the conversation all OUTRAGED!!! that anyone would dare suggest they are racist, but once you get into the conversation they’re going on about the blacks or the Hispanics…
It’s not that they don’t realize that what they’re saying is racist. They’re just pissed off because it “feels” real to them, and they resent the fact that society slaps them when they come out with what, to them, is self-evident truth.

Apologizes to Limbaugh. More made up statements attributed to Limbaugh to come from other news outlets. Rush has a way to always win in the end.
But hey we are "progressive" - we don't really need to back up our news statements. We will just hyperventilate and puke out stuff at will when it serves our cause.
Pathetic. And racist in itself.
Yesterday CNN's Rick Sanchez was set to go on air and issue an apology for running an unverified quote attributed to Rush Limbaugh. Breaking news of the now-infamous "balloon boy" intervened, and Sanchez was unable to deliver his apology. It came to the attention of the NewsBusters staff that Sanchez plans on issuing a correction today on-air, reading the following statement:
Earlier this week we provided quotes attributed to Limbaugh to illustrate why some people and players felt that Rush Limbaugh was too divisive to be an NFL owner. One of these quotes, which was in a column in the St. Louis Post Dispatch and in a book largely about conservatives, was refuted by Limbaugh. We have been unable to independently confirm that quote. We should not have reported it and for that I apologize. I feel it is important to hold folks accountable when they make mistakes, and that should include myself and my team.
[Update, 10:55 am Eastern: Sanchez also put an apology of sorts on his Twitter account (per National Review Online)
i've know rush. in person,i like him. his rhetoric, however is inexcusably divisive. he's right tho. we didn't confirm quote. our bad.

And from Huff n Puff On Limbaugh giving praise to MLK's assasin.
The quotes were widely cited as real by several sports writers and on CNN and MSNBC in the past week as proof that Limbaugh was a racist who did not deserve to own part of the St. Louis Rams football team. But the Huffington Post has now removed them, saying the author has not been able to substantiate them.

Save-the-Land 10/16/09 1:06 PM | CNN, the most trusted news source....ROFLMAO......they are as biased as any and show favoritism to Obama, but all we here from Gil is about how terrible Fox News and Rush Limbaugh are.
Rick Sanchez should be fired, he too often shows his bias cloaked in a news program. |
ArtVandolay 10/16/09 3:31 PM | Other Owners of NFL teams:
Miami Dolphins Minority owner Serena Williams (remember her vulger and violent outburst at a line judge during the US open?)
Interesting lyrics sung by Miami Dolphins Minority owner FERGIE
Whatcha gonna do with all that junk All that junk inside your trunk I’ma get get get get you drunk Get you love drunk off my hump My hump my hump my hump my hump my hump My hump my hump my hump my lovely little lumps
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism But we still got terrorists here livin’ In the USA, the big CIA …
A war is goin’ on but the reason’s undercover The truth is kept secret, it’s swept under the rug
More Fergie, some-time member of the Black Eyed Peas and some-time solo artist. You betcha, she has also been approved as a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins. Fergie is a huge Obama supporter, so I guess the NFL thought it was pretty cool that she just performed her song “Glamorous” at the White House Easter egg hunt… an event for children. Here’s how the DC Examiner reported the event:
Lines like “wear them gold and diamond rings” and “I’m not clean, I’m not pristine” may not be the dream lyrics for their daughters to emulate, but the song’s repetition of the line “If you ain’t got no money take your broke a** home” made a few parents cringe. She did of course edit the curse word from the song Monday — but some of crowd members helpfully filled it in for her.
