At least, that’s the assertion in a lawsuit filed last year. But hell, this original here rips off the hey-hey you-you from the Rolling Stones. Rock and roll is all stolen, don’t you know that?
This is the Rubinoos, a Bay-area band circa 1979, collected on the magnificent Rhino compilation Poptopia: Power Pop Classics of theĀ ’70s (there’s also an ’80s and ’90s version). This is guileless pre-new wave stuff, when boys still wanted to go steady with girls.
