Coup coup ka choo

September 30th, 2009 2:26 pm · 12 comments

Newsmax is now trying to claim that the columnist who wrote the “What if the military staged a coup against Obama???” column was just some unpaid blogger. TPM’s all over that little lie.

And though NewsMax has since taken it down, it’s being preserved by TPM and others. And it’s worth reading - just so you know what’s on the fevered minds of the would-be Pinochets on the right:

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it.

But Mr. Perry, do you know the difference?

Update: Tom Friedman on Obama as Yitzhak Rabin:

Others have already remarked on this analogy, but I want to add my voice because the parallels to Israel then and America today turn my stomach: I have no problem with any of the substantive criticism of President Obama from the right or left. But something very dangerous is happening. Criticism from the far right has begun tipping over into delegitimation and creating the same kind of climate here that existed in Israel on the eve of the Rabin assassination.

The military needs to stage a coup against the entire United States government and chase their no good, lazy, money mongering !profanity!es out of office. Let's see how they feel with no money and no way to pay for their medical expenses, keeping their eyes clear and their teeth and mouth healthy, among other things such as being chased out of that huge, beautiful home or having to kiss someone's butt to get a ride to their $9.00 an hour job.
So far as I can see, there are several who need to be re-schooled in the meaning of generosity and compassion. My personal opinion is that La Bomba is not one of them.
He cannot be a good, caring and compassionate president if the other branches of our government will not allow it.
I don't know the actual figure but I'm sure the majority of those who are in there to "protect and serve" are only there looking to protect the lining of their own pockets and to hell with those who are supplying the liner.
Several soldiers have already gone to prison for refusing to report for duty for transfer overseas.
I was proud to be a soldier at one time and I used think this war was worth fighting. I have since, changed my thinking and have come to the conclusion that we should mind our own business first. If there is still some money left, we can ask if we may be of assistance to the others, who may be in peril.

IMHO

So in your fantasy, a coup is staged and the government is overthrown. Then what? Martial law? Yipee.

I see you still sometimes engage your mouth before your brain Clanker.
Don't ever think it's a fantasy. It could happen any time now.
If you think Martial law is so bad, how about we put together a militia made up solely of vigilantes and mercenaries.
That way we can kill off all the gangstas, send all the Mexican troublemakers back to "Mehico", send all the Muslims back to Muslim-ville and at the same time get rid of all the monsters ! sarcasm.gif
Black and white have, for the most part, learned to work out their differences. Together, maybe we can regain control of this cesspool we call the United States of America.

He was doing you a favor to call what you wrote "a fantasy"...if you insist it's a legitimate suggestion you are inviting an investigation from the secret service....maybe you should engage your brain before your "Mouth" (fingers)?

And you are obviously colorblind and without the capacity to see large black print.

It is not a fantasy, it CAN happen !
I am not suggesting that we overthrow the entire government. I am suggesting that we use the military, the CIA and the FBI to oust any of those who would be shining a seat in our nation's capital and not contributing to the welfare of our nation.
And I believe I am entitled to MY opinion as a citizen of this country

You wanna make this a personal attack, we can work on that also !

Are we going back to the likes of the Freeman of Just Us Township, Montana? Ya get a bunch of armed yo-yos having a stand-off with the Feds, saying they are being oppressed. Do you think the Feds would even be talking to you if'n you were "oppressed". Jeebus, if the Feds wanted to oppress you, they'd drop a bunker buster down your chimney. And all your friends and allies would ever find is a smoking hole where your resistance used to be.

Where were them commited defenders of freedom when Habeus corpus was suspended. Seems their insurrection is a bit partisan.

Worked great for Tim McVey, right? Anyway, so you think that the directors of the FBI and CIA will be happy to turn against those that appointed them to their positions. That's funny.

A lot of things are funny in this world clanker, but that's not one of them. It's because of people like you, that take things too lightly that have helped cause the mess we have in DC. It's not even close to being humorous.
Everyone wants to bitch about the way the country is being run yet no one wants to get off of their fat !profanity!es to do anything about it. Every one is too busy in their own little bubble. The country is going to hell in a hand basket. The majority say they care but don't want to get their soft little hands dirty.
God bless all of you chickensh!ts out there and don't categorize me with Timothy McVey, he's a wack job ! dry.gif
Edited for spelling.

I did do something about the mess in DC. I voted, as did lots of other Americans. That's something called democracy, which seems a concept that eludes fringe elements like you. I don't recall malitias being uneasy about Bush trampling all over people's rights. Admit it to yourself, it's about race.

Have you ever read any books by Vince Flynn. If not, I think you'd like him. Start with "Term Limits", great book. Very breifly, its about a few ex-SEALS who get together to assinate a few crooked politicians as a way to encite or enact change in Washington. The plot gets a bit more complicted than that, but the book is really well written.

First of all, I'm not a racist individual. Second, just voting isn't enough anymore.
Why don't you try sitting at your keyboard and writing a letter to the senate, congressmen or anyone else who could possibly do something about our situation. One or two letters now and then won't say squat to these people but when the masses inundate them with their demands, they are forced to carry out the procedures for which they were hired.

Do you really think all you have to do is get off your butt and go to the polls and vote, and that will make everything alright? Jesus man, come into the 21st century!! Therein lies the problem. Too many out there think just like you.
Yes, this is a democracy, but democracy requires the people to speak out, which by the way entails more than just voting.
You need to read a few history books to get the full jist of what I'm saying but that won't happen because most are just too lazy to fight anymore for what is considered a true democracy.
They would rather just let the world go spinning by, while they stay hidden under their nice warm rock.
