Gay marriage = socialism

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) declared in a radio interview that same sex marriage is part of a socialist agenda to undermine “the foundations of individual rights and liberties.”
Said King: “Not only is it a radical social idea, it is a purely socialist concept in the final analysis.”
As Sullivan notes, “socialism” has now become the catch-all term on the right for anything and everything they think is scary, whether it has anything to do with, you know, actual socialism or not:
How on earth is allowing 2 percent of people the right to marry the person they love a path to redistribution of wealth or government ownership of the means of production? Marriage is an institution that helps people be independent of the state. If one spouse gets sick, it is his or her spouse’s first responsibility to care for him or her. Without the spouse, the government would have to step in. Marriage encourages responsibility, long-term commitment, and leads to better health. All of that too helps people remain independent of the state. In fact every single argument that social conservatives make about marriage for straights - and rightly so - also applies to marriage for gays.
I don’t think you understand. Gay marriage is bad!
Therefore, it’s socialist.

Steve King of IA represents radical thinking of the right & that is the kind of comment that makes Republicans &/or Christians look bad. My real thought/comment is this: WHY!? Why would you even post this - the comment isn't even worth the publicity you're giving it! Why don't I ever see any ridiculous quotes coming from the left posted to start controversy? |

Outline of the next 100 pages: Straight person(s)...being gay is so wrong, it says so in the bible it should be in the msds bla bla...you cant produce children, you can have a family, you must have had something terrible happen in your life...you weren't born that way, its a choice so you can't have the freedoms you're entitled to because you pay taxes. I saw some gays making out at the mall, it was so groose...quit pushing the gay agenda.
Gay persons(s) STFU and get over it there is no gay agenda...that was made up by breeders because they needed something to worry about! How exactly do gay people hurt society...

I have an interesting question which I've never been able to get an answer. (I suppose since gay threads never have a point this is the perfect place to ask)
Ok.
So all the (moderately crazy) people say you can't be gay for what ever reason...it's not natural, the bible says so, it's a mental disorder, etc.
If I were to say and believe that I talk to god on a regular basis everyone would think I was crazy and direct me to the nearest psychiatrist.
If I were to walk around and proclaim and believe that I am god (which I often do) everyone would think I was crazy and admit me to a mental hospital.
That being said, if everyone is sitting around waiting for god or whom ever to arrive...then why do such people have such a hard time believing I am what they've waiting before (even if i was straight)
Also I suppose allowing gays to marry would make a socialistic society...I mean equality is only for the rich! |
