Ah, I see Drudge is milking the arrest of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates for all it’s worth - black and white! How dare anyone suggest white cops sometimes unfairly target blacks!

OUTRAGE!!!

You know what, it does indeed seem as if Gates if milking this. But Gates is standing in his own home when the cop shows up and demands identification.

In the right-wing brain, this is entirely justified because black people commit crimes! And Gates is black, and how was the cop to know Gates wasn’t one of those black criminals! He might have been! So let’s demand the middle-aged guy cough up his driver’s license under threat of arrest!

You know, you return home after a long trip, your door is jammed and you’re trying to get it open and the cops show up and demand you show them your ID on your own property, how do you respond?

Why is it you have to prove to the cops that you live at your own home, again? And cops can arrest you if you decline to do so?

Richard Weinblatt, director of the Institute for Public Safety at Central Ohio Technical College, said the police sergeant was responsible for defusing the situation once he realized Gates was the lawful occupant. It is not against the law to yell at police, especially in a home, as long as that behavior does not affect an investigation, he said.

So what Drudge and his OUTRAGED!!! white fans are saying is - you don’t have the right to yell at the cops in your own home.

The cops are authority. Bow to authority at all times, regardless.

If only black people would do this, there would be no problems. See?

Yeah, I see. Looks a lot like the bad old days Gates is complaining about.
