Via Will Bunch over at Attytood, lawyers guns and money:

The Virginia Republican Party spent thousands of dollars on extra security to accomodate the desires of some guns owners to carry their weapons at the annual GOP convention in Richmond this weekend.

One party official estimated that additional security costs approached $35,000.

Now, why would you need extra security? I thought the whole argument was that gun owners provide extra security?

Kind of reminds me of when Glenn Beck tried to make fun of Democrats and global warming by telling his listeners to use more energy - which, of course, means higher energy bills.
