As we used to say in Pittsburgh.

Barriers have been removed from the King Street/Queen Street entrance to the convention center. Orange notice in the window, application to serve alcoholic beverages. Looks nice. Be interested to see how many patrons the place actually has.

But in our typical one step up, two steps back fashion, a little further up on East King Street before Duke, sidewalks on both sides of the street are current blocked off, and pedestrians right now have to walk in the street, careful to keep to the inside of the row of orange cones. One guy in a motorized wheelchair found himself trapped; I heard him say to his buddy, “I can’t go, I have nowhere to go,” apparently the ramp headed toward the square was blocked off, and he could only turn around and head back toward Duke Street.

A year from now all of this will seem…  like a really long bad dream. One that, hopefully, will have finally concluded. Stay tuned.
