Tucker Carlson worries that Jon Stewart, a “partisan hack,” is becoming less of a laff riot:
Look, Jon Stewart is a political player. He’s a partisan. He is speaking on behalf of the Democratic Party. And in so doing, becoming, I think — I mean, he’s smart, he’s talented, but he’s becoming so self-serious and sanctimonious, that it’s just a matter of time before it becomes unfunny.
Well, his bit with Cramer certainly wasn’t very funny. But again, it was some of the best TV I’ve ever seen.
Carlson, of course, has also been called out by Stewart. Which might be a source of his ire. But I was amazed, elsewhere in the bit, to see/hear Carlson say this:
Well, Santelli wasn’t going off on the American homeowner, of course. He was going off on Obama and Obama’s policies.
Santelli turning to the traders on the Chicago floor and asking them if they wanted to pay for their irresponsible neighbor’s mortgage wasn’t “going off on the American homeowner?” That’s exactly what it was; part and parcel with the whole Republican it’s-your-own-fault approach.
