Ayers apparently on. “You try to pretend you’re not all for Bill Ayers,” says the caller. “But I know you are.” Mind-reading apparently being a byproduct of listening to Rush often.

Nevertheless, someone tossed this out there the other day, and I think it’s a good one. Everyone’s getting all bent out of shape about Ayers.

But what if, say, Oliver North was coming to town?

Hell, North did come to town in 2005, hosted by the Pennsylvania Family Institute out at the Host.

We talk about the crimes Ayers committed, but of course Ayers was never convicted of anything. But North was! Felonies! Though later vacated.

But right-wingers think he’s a hero - even though he facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, now regarded - by right-wingers - as the most evil and dangerous regime ever to trod the earth.

Let’s repeat that because it’s important:

Ollie armed Iran.

Do you think, if we ever get into a shooting war with Iran, that they might be shooting at U.S. soldiers with equipment Ollie helped provide?

Can you imagine if a prominent left-winger had ever done anything remotely comparable?

But none of this scandalizes the right, who may try to insist that North armed our now-sworn enemies out of his love for America! Indeed, North’s got his own Fox News show! And I guarantee you - I absolutely, positively guarantee you - that a large number of the people who are so OUTRAGED, OUTRAGED! about Bill Ayers watch that show.

Missing the irony, of course.
