The shoe incident

Insufficient gratitude shown by an Iraqi who obviously doesn’t appreciate how we liberated him and his country.

What was the point of this war, again?

To be sure, Saddam was an incredible douche. Brutal. Let's not forget that. But that wasn't why we were told we were doing this. And not to make light of those who were tortured and died under his brutal regime, but is it possible that a ruthless dictator is better than an all-out civil war? Of course, it's not JUST a civil war.. they're also reacting to us as an occupier.

Somehow, I don't think the gentleman who threw the shoe could have done that with Saddam Hussein in power, and lived to tell of it. Ultimately, the Iraqi's will have the potential to build a society with more individual liberty. Not that this war seems to have been the smartest move or prosecuted as well as it should have been.

Bush did, at least, show some decent reflexes - don't you think?

If you question Obama's judgement in cabinet picks, and his political cronies from the Land O Lincoln, you get slammed. Be silent, don't make waves, it's not important.
So some nut throws his shoes at Bush, and it's all you see on the news, in slow motion, on and on. So, thanks Gil, I had not seen it yet!

DB Olbermann and Maddow just can't get enough of it.
You are right, if Saddam were in power, this guy would have been tortured and his family killed in front of him.

Does anyone think Obama's reception in Iraq will be any better?

PS: The nut was throwing his shoes at all Americans, I hope he gets some punishment.

Only Art would somehow tie Obama in with all of this. Oh yeah, and throw the "liberal media" in a size 10 in as well. Only Art. Art is actually an apt name. You're getting quite creative in how you tie things together.

Seems like a waste of a perfectly good pair of shoes, IMO.

Hey mammy, I was just commenting on the media, which Gill is on a the bottom rung. The media we all know that is in love with Obama, tingly creamy stuff running down Chris Matthew's leg when Obama speaks...that sort of stuff, ya know? You might want to grab a fresh hanky yourself!

Just fall in line and lap it up, becuase it's only a matter if time till the media turns against BHO.

That would mean they aren't liberal then, wouldn't it?
When should they commence the airing of the grievances, since you're an expert on all things Seinfeld?

When Huff n Puff and Daily Kos give them the directives. After Obama can't deliver the radical ideas the far left will demand to be put in place.

Not that there is anything wrong with that...

Huffington, Kos, and Matthews aren't "the media", any more than O'reilly, Hannity, and Limbaugh. They are all entertainers on the same level of the National Enquirer.

Later...Shawn
