More from Palin-Dobson

October 22nd, 2008 3:38 pm · 14 comments

Amazing, actually - read the whole thing. But again, the one thing that jumps out:

Dobson says to her, “We’re on the same team. I’m just trying to serve the lord as you are.” He notes that he and other ministers have prayed for “God’s intervention” and that “God’s perfect will will be done in November the fourth.”

You know what, Dr. Dobson? What if Obama wins?

Are you willing to accept that as “God’s perfect will?” Are you willing to accept that perhaps God wanted Obama to be president - and not in order to merely test your own movement?

If that happens, are you willing to concede that perhaps God’s will is not what you thought it was?

But I already know the answer to this, don’t I?

Palin is right. God is in control of this presidential race. If Obama does win then it is God's will and He has a plan that will come from that victory.

You really think so? Why would God care who gets elected president? How do you know he has interest in the outcome of the race? Why should we even bother with an election? Just wait for someone to have a vision from God and annoint that person President.

Are you mocking those of us who believe in God's will for this country and our lives? dry.gif

The Lord's Prayer - remember that?

Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven

Well just remember that when Obama wins and you start whining about what hes doing. I mean it is Gods will right?? And who are you to question or complain about that??

Not particularly. I thought maybe you had some inside information. I remember the Lord's prayer, but I don't see how it could possibly be relevant to the election. I thought I remembered there was something about "free will". Are you suggesting that God suspends the whole "Free Will" thing in order to influence the outcome of elections?

Someone has to lead us to the end of the world. Obama could be the chosen one.

This is a prayer not a statement.

God's will is not always done on the earth. The prayer is that God's will might be done "as it is in heaven". Anyone who has seen and tasted the tragedies of this life knows that the other side now rules the earth. The last temptation of Jesus was Satan taking him to a high mountain and showing him the kingdoms of the world and offering them to him if he would give him allegiance. Satan said, "...for they are mine and I can give them to whoever I choose." Now was Satan lying or was this a real temptation for Jesus?

the kingdom of heaven is within. that is where jesus himself told us it is, so it cannot be denied.
the real meaning of this prayer is that as we imagine our life to be from within, so shall it manifest without.
imagination creates reality.
don't forget when you pray you are to believe that you have already recieved that which you desire and it shall come in due season.
you do this by appropriating the consciousness of already being the person you want to be, despite the evidences of your senses to the contrary. that is why god's name is "i am". you become what you define yourself to be thru the "i am".
seek and ye shall find.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

(translated directly from Aramaic to English, rather than from Aramaic to Greek to Latin to English) . Our Universal, All-Knowing Presence, Your nature, which is separated from all untruths, is sacred. Your advice and counsel are present. We allow your wish to be done through us, As it is done in the cosmos. We accept your provision of all the necessities of life day after day. And as we are freed from our own mistakes, We now choose to let go of the mistakes of others. Because of your Eternal Presence, we are kept from erroneous, materialistic thinking, And no longer find fulfillment in useless, unnecessary suffering. For this truth we are thankful. Amen.

Original Aramaic:
Abwûn
d'bwaschmâja
Nethkâdasch schmach
Têtê malkuthach.
Nehwê tzevjânach aikâna d'bwaschmâja af b'arha.
Hawvlân lachma d'sûnkanân jaomâna.
Waschboklân chaubên wachtahên aikâna daf chnân schwoken l'chaijabên.
Wela tachlân l'nesjuna
ela patzân min bischa
Metol dilachie malkutha wahaila wateschbuchta l'ahlâm almîn.
Amên.

translated:
"Oh Thou, from whom the breath of life comes,
who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration.
May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest.
Your Heavenly Domain approaches.
Let Your will come true - in the universe (all that vibrates)
just as on earth (that is material and dense).
Give us wisdom (understanding, assistance) for our daily need,
detach the fetters of faults that bind us, (karma)
like we let go the guilt of others.
Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations),
but let us be freed from that what keeps us off from our true purpose.
From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act,
the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age.
Sealed in trust, faith and truth.
(I confirm with my entire being)

Neither post, despite the poetic flow or beautiful turn of phrase is a "literal translation" ...

Abwun -- literally "Father"

(Abba -- literally "daddy" is the familiar form that Jesus used ...)

The Bible is the anvil that has worn out many hammers, but Truth is Truth and will always stand up to the attempted twisting and turning to make it say what men wish it would have said. Truth really comes when we submit ourselves to the plain truth that God, the Father, communicated and accept Him and His Son and His Word just as they are ... not trying to recreate them in our own image -- when it should be the other way around.

You're right Gil, it doesn't matter because Obama is a professed Christian right? That means Obama believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That he died on the cross and was raised from the dead. Obama believes that Jesus will one day return to earth and establish His Kingdom on earth regardless of who is president.
