Not enough friends in Pa.

McCain focusing on Pa.:

All the McCain activity is happening in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by nearly 1.2 million, double from four years ago; where Obama, flush with cash, is outspending McCain on television by several orders of magnitude; and where the Democrats have an organizational advantage.

Indeed, Obama - who announced last night that he will leave the campaign trail Thursday and Friday to visit his suddenly seriously ill grandmother in Hawaii - apparently feels comfortable enough about his position in Pennsylvania that he has no plans to return to the state before the middle of next week.

G. Terry Madonna, director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, said of the McCain campaign: “I think they’re still here because they can’t get out. They can’t pull out because it would be psychologically devastating to their campaign nationally.”

The last five public polls have Obama ahead in the state by 12 to 15 points.

That’s not going to change. Again, McCain’s best hope is in places like right here in Lancaster County - where the Lancaster County Democrats today announced a 27 percent gain in registrations just since last November, where Democrats now have a plurality in Millersville Borough and Lancaster Township along with the city and Columbia Borough; where the huge GOP registration advantage has begun to dwindle, and will continue to do so.

Sure, McCain wins the county - but not by as much as Bush did four and eight years ago. And McCain needs to win it by more.

It sez here, right now, Obama wins Pennsylvania. And in that McCain is focusing so heavily on Pennsylvania - with that, Obama wins the election.

CHAOS!!! How many Repubs switched parties for the primaries to vote for Hillary and did not switch back? I seem to remember that Hillary defeated Obama by 10%. How many of those Hillary supporters are not supporting Obama? Also, how many women are disgusted with the treatment from the media that Sarah Palin has received and will vote for McCain to spite the media?

Gore beat Bush by 4.2% in 2000 and Kerry beat Bush by 2.5% in 2004. Now the Democrat Party nominated an even more liberal candidate than the previous 2 elections. Obama has repeatedly dissed the gun-toting, bible-thumping citizens of this state. And you have Murtha out in Johnstown calling people in Western PA "rednecks" and "racists." The prior 2 elections show a trend toward the Republicans and if Obama, Biden and Murtha keep it up, and I hope they do, central PA will be "clutch country."

I am from Western, PA and a large number of people are racist. It's because if you go to some of the smaller, rural areas there aren't any other ethnicities other then white. I often get into debates with my cousins who all still live out there. I asked one why he was racist and he said its because he was never exposed to other cultures and it was how he was raised.

I think all people hold a certain amount of racist thoughts, some more than other. And it does come down to what you are familiar with. And people would also have prejudices against people based on occupation, religion, and sex. And again that comes down to familiarity. Anybody that claims they hold no prejudices is a liar. Having said that, for Murtha or anybody else to denigrate an entire population is not useful to alleviate racial divisions and I hope it will not be helpful to Murtha in his reelection. He has depended on his constituents for decades and now he insulted all of them.

No, I am from Bedford County. It's funny how my cousins think Lancaster is the big city. It make me giggle everytime.

Oh, I am with you there. Had people actually refuse to drive due to the traffic. Others ask If they should be worried if we are in "the city" after dark.

I just love it. Makes me laugh every time!
