Sign of desperation

So Palin’s coming here Saturday, which is verrrrry interesting. Indicative of the fact that even at this late stage of the game, the GOP is thinking that it has to shore up Lancaster County, of all place. It needs not just a plurality here but a huge plurality - and this year, I just don’t think they’re gonna get it.
Which is to say I’m sure the Palin rally will be extremely well attended. But I just got a report from Lititz about a number of Obama signs up and around town - an area where there are almost never signs for the Democratic candidate.
Make no mistake, McCain/Palin will take the popular vote here. But Bush beat Kerry here in 2004 by 2-to-1. No matter how many times Palin visits - just don’t see the margin being anywhere near that big this year.

C'mon, she's filled with the holy spirit and will bring honesty and integrity to the white house.

I think this parallels the blog from earlier this morning by Dave Pedgeon where he had this to say under the title McCain Wants Pennsylvania Badly "No one as far as I can see considers Pennsylvania a battleground state anymore, but McCain’s internal numbers must show signs of a possible upset. RealClearPolitics.com has Democrat Barack Obama up by an average of 13.4 percent in voter polls, the state has 1.2 million more Democrats than Republicans, unemployment is up and the last Republican to win Pennsylvania was George H.W. Bush way back in 1988 (I was 9 years old). I’d love to be in the McCain war room right now to hear what they’re saying about Pennsylvania."
And given that with a 13% Obama lead in state polls, they think it's worth their time here instead of more closely contested states??? ...SO, I have to ask...what is your voting machine history.??? How long have you all been using computerized voting machines??.. When I voted in the primary, the scanner in my precinct seized up right before I cast my ballot...the staff made many calls...and then just started collecting the ballots to be fed through the machine later...Computerized systems are subject to manipulation...this has been proven over and over...And now, with a 13% lead in a state that has 1.2 million more democrats and hasn't voted Republican for Pres in 20 years...The McCain camp thinks it's worth their time???One has to wonder??? |
hyleasfan 10/15/08 4:54 PM | I wish McCain/Palin would stay out of PA. We surely do not need Palin - a hate-mongering, slanderous liar - visiting the county. |

And about 50% of people disagree with you!
But, boy, you Democrats are big free-speech advocates, aren't you!

hispanic in lancaster 10/15/08 5:16 PM | Interesting that she is coming to Lancaster... what else could she #!@$up...
What a shame great opportunity missed. Mccain missed the opportunity to have a woman vice president.
If I was a Republican I would be so pisst. First the primaries never made it half way before he had the Nod. Secondly. she choose "bimbo" as running mate. What a shame. |

50%? Boy, you're pretty optimistic. Lol.
Things not looking good when McCain needs to send the Hate Talk Express to Lancaster County less than 3 weeks before the election to shore up the base in PA. |

Hey Angel, last time i checked, threating to kill someone isn't something thats protected by free speech. And last time i checked Slander is against the law as well. And 50% huh, where'd ya get that number? I see your making things up again, guess your getting desperate too. But let the wingnuts come out for thise moron, another month she'll be back up in Alaska, getting impeached. And then her daughter won't have to marry the baby daddy either. See its just better off for her that way. |

It's only 'hate speach' when Obama has no believable explanation he can stammer out in response. In that case, it's always so much more efficient to call out "Poor me. I'm being picked on ...." Or better yet, he doesn't even have to do it himself. He's got plenty of henchmen who will do his bidding. All he has to do is stammer.
If he tuly had the best interest of this Nation at heart, he would just answer the d@*n questions. This is all just diverting and blocking and manipulation. I guess some people just can't see that. |

Who said that was the slander? She's said plenty of other things that were down right lies. Plus honestly if you want to talk about people having relationships with unsavory characters, shes sleeping with a guy that belongs to a group that wants to secede from the Union. Last time i checked thats considered treason. So Obama has met this guy how many times? Sat on a board with him? Its not like he calls this guy every weekend. So just because you met someone a few times and sat on a board with them, you can be labeled a radical? And this guy seems to have turned his life around and has become a very productive and giving member of society. If you use that logic then Palin should be thrown in jail, i mean shes sharing a bed with a traitor. Like Gil said you guys are desperate, and its really starting to show. Just throw anything out there and hope it sticks. And from all the poll numbers coming out, well it looks like its not doing anything, in fact it appears to be turning many moderate voters off. As far as finding those examples, I'm not going to do the work for you, your a big boy you can go find out what she said for yourself. |
Matt 10/16/08 12:28 PM | No one is saying that Sarah Palin doesn't have a right to free speech as an individual. That's silly. And I think we should be interested in perspectives from all sides. Real debate and real discussion are conspicuously absent from our politics. But it should be honest discussion. The protests will not be protests of her right to say what she wants.. but of her policies, her campaign style, John McCain's campaign style.. and the very fact that this woman is a nominee for the Vice Presidency of the United States! This is the most cynical political nomination by a major party. Ever. They really think you're stupid. (And, in many cases, they're right). No one ever said you had to be "right" to win an election. You just have to motivate people to vote. And fear often works quite effectively in that regard. There is often a tension between passion and rationality. And that goes all the way back to Plato, who warned us about democracy being corrupted by demagogues who seize control by making emotional appeals to the masses, wielding ideas like "patriotism" and "honor." Have we learned nothing of the dangers of nationalism? of jingoistic fervor. I, if I were going to be in the area on Saturday would/might protest Sarah Palin because of what she represents. The politics of division. The school of Karl Rove. Populism at its worst. Anti-intellectualism. She's Bush in drag. We can't afford to have her in the White House. We just can't.
Though I would hasten to add: Just because Republicans suck does't mean Democrats deserve to get elected. |

Just some guy ... from who's house Obama launched his political career.
Reformed?

QUOTE ''I don't regret setting bombs,'' Bill Ayers said. ''I feel we didn't do enough.'' Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970's as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago.
The only reason William Ayers isn't in jail is because daddy is one of those rich capitalists he would rail against. And the fact that he is considered a mover and shaker in Chicago only shows how corrupt that political sewer is. A sewer that nurtured Obama's ambitions. |
