Preemptive strike

Please tell me I don’t have to sit through another debate tonight.

Actually, tonight’s debate might be the liveliest of the three - with McCain saying he’s going to bring up the Ayers nonsense. But in that he’s telegraphed that punch, Obama will of course be ready for it.

But more than that. If this is the way McCain wants to play the game, Obama should launch a pre-emptive strike. Right out of the gate - as the initial talk is likely to be about the economy - Obama should invoke the Keating Five.

At this time of grave economic peril, he should ask the viewing public, do we really want to elect a man who was hip deep in one of the last economic scandals and crises to beset the country?

It would completely knock McCain off his game - and probably p*ss him off, too. Perhaps get a flash of that famous McCain temper - which the country needs to see, as it would be a factor were he to win the Oval Office.

Obama probably won’t do this, of course; at this stage of the game he’s playing not to lose. It’d be fun to hear the wingnuts cry about how this crossed the line - while that line has long since receded in their own rear-view mirrors.

Yes, it's OK to be friends with unrepentant domestic terrorists. What the American people want is blah, blah, blah... That move's been telegraphed too. http://www.drudgereport.com/flashotp.htm
