Looks like that wrinkly, white-haired guy's negative campaigning blew up in his face. No one expected a comeback from Paris. He got what he deserved for bringing her into the fray.

Isn't it amazing that hottie Hilton came up with an energy plan that actually makes sense.

I find it depressing that a tabloid celebrity bimbo could run an ad that makes more sense than any of the actual candidates. Maybe the wrinkly old man should fire his people and hire Paris' people.

You can always tell the effectiveness of a campaign ad by how much it’s refuted. McCain’s ads hit the nail(s) on the head; Oboomer lacks experience to be president and his energy solution, (before the flip flop) was out of step with reality.

Oboomer on the defencive……..priceless! laugh.gif

McCain apparently was unfazed by Paris Hilton's spoof. Last night I saw a clip of McCain stating that Hilton's energy plan was better than Obama's.

That didn't come from the Obama campaign. Paris Hilton did that of her own volition because she did not appreciate having her image used in a campaign ad without her consent, particularly given the context.

Lets face it Oboomer screwed up he didn’t relies that his energy policies only make sense to his extreme environmentalist constituency, for a few days we were able to see what Oboomer truly is ….an extremist in his views and out of step with America. Then there was the flip flop, now he looks like a fool.

Too bad Paris but you are a perfect symbol of a hollow celebrity, star appeal and coverage with absolutely no talent, ( not counting her oral sex abilities ) created by Hollywood for our consumption. A perfect parallel to Oboomer.

How honorable is it to take someone's image, without her consent, and use it in a negative campaign ad? Just because she's a celebrity does not mean someone can misappropriate her image for his own personal gain.

It would be nice if you could reply using the candidate's proper name, rather than resorting to childish distortions of it. Why do so many McCain supporters do that?

The reason people do it is just that, lack of respect. It's an effort to detract from the fact the the person using the name has no good point or argument. What it really does is make the people doing the name calling look foolish. In other words, it backfires.

Here we go again, I guess you’re referring to his book when you mention “read”?

I’m going by what he says in his public appearances and his ads.

What’s wrong with his energy policies? They are limited to conservation and a pie in the sky idea to abruptly switch from an oil economy to …..Something else. Most Americans aren’t buying it; they know we need the Full Monty including more drilling and nuclear energy. Thinking we can inflate our tires out of this mess is childish, pandering to the rabid environmentalists faction of the Demo party is extremism.

If his energy policies or so messianic why did he flip flop on drilling?

Yes indeed, we should continue to become more and more dependant on oil. Once we run out, then we worry about developing alternatives. Sounds like a great plan. Especially the part where we run out of places to drill and run out of oil first, making us even more dependant on the Middle East for our survival. Nothing like good old "stay the course", "change nothing" politics.

No matter what, we will need oil for years if not decades to come, there is at this time no alternative nor is there any practical alternative waiting in the wings. That’s a fact Jack and there is no getting around it, now we can sit on our hands and do nothing like we have been doing or we can exploit our own resources including oil, wind, sun, water and nuclear energy none of which should be off the table.

Keep in mind that OPEC can lower oil prices to a point where any alternative energy scheme becomes unworkable. The best way…the only way we are going to achieve energy independence is for oil to remain high. We may have to keep oil prices high through taxation with the proceeds going toward independence just to keep our existing alterative, (ethanol etc.) energy ideas afloat.

Thats the problem, there is no alternative waiting in the wings, or even viable at thsi point in time. What will it take to change that? More drilling? Of course not. We need to invest, and invest a lot, into research that will discover viable alternative sources fo energy.

As to your second point regarding keeping oil prices high by taxation, I think you and Obama might be on the same page with that one.

Okay, technically TMI is over the county line, but we have TMI and Peach Bottom, we have power lines galore, we have an incinerator and a huge landfill, exactly what is your point, DR?

Besides, nuclear plants need a good source of water for the cooling towers. Amish farms in the middle of the county are not viable. But heck, have you hiked along the Susquehanna? Throw in Safe Harbor, and don't you think we are doing our share???

My point is the hypocrosy of advocating something that tooth and nail you will fight having located in Lancaster County. NO Nuclear and NO Coal fired generators here in Lacanster County am I right. And Delta power plant has recently broken ground, just south of PBAPS.
