New Yorker state of mind

As a good pundit I suppose I should opine about the Obama New Yorker cover controversy:

But: Eh.

Liberals are apparently all outraged, saying that if this is satire a good portion of the mouth-breathers (i.e. the wingers) won’t get it. But then, how often does that demographic read the New Yorker in the first place?

It’s an obvious send-up of everything the right has insinuated about Obama, and I particularly like Michelle Obama as Angela Davis. The American flag burning in the fireplace is also a nice touch. That the wingers might not see the humor in all this is irrelevant. They don’t get it: So what? Here’s a tip for you: They’re not going to get it anyway, and that’s intentional. Fox News and it’s ilk is working overtime between now and November to reinforce every single thing you see in this cartoon - which is why it’s pretty good. The New Yorker left no wingnut stone unturned; this like an image straight out of Steve Doocy’s id.

It’s pointless to try and counter Teh Stupid. You can only make fun of it.
