The funniest Iranian is a dead Iranian

McCain seems to think so:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain was asked about an Associated Press report that $158 million in cigarettes have been shipped to Iran during George W. Bush’s presidency despite restrictions on U.S. exports to that country.

”Maybe that’s a way of killing them,” McCain told reporters, smiling as he waited for a cheesesteak sandwich at the Primanti Brothers restaurant. His wife, sitting next to him at the counter, poked his back without looking up.

”I meant that as a joke,” McCain quickly explained.

Ha. Maybe McCain should have just waited for his sandwich - Primanti’s rocks, by the way - and had a nice big side order of zip it.

So OK; gaffe, maybe, failed joke maybe. But, notes Atrios:

But when it comes to joking about killing Iranians… just what is the joke? I appreciate that it was a failed attempt at a joke, but the underlying premise is…it would be funny to kill Iranians.

That’s some straight talk we can believe in, my friends.

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post.
Israel has jet fighter training to show Iran that they can bomb Iran, US parks air craft carriers off shore to show we can attack Iran. No big deal. Iran shows that it can and will retaliate against any attack, by one missile fired at Israel and two sinking ships in the Straits of Hormuse this is bad? Only in a bizzaro repugnican world.

I'm hoping Obama was joking when he said that Iran, Cuba and Venezuela are not threats because they're small. unsure.gif
I do think both the candidates need to think BEFORE they speak. It's a tough trait, but they need to master it.

News flash when you spend more on military than the rest of the world combined their are no threats. Iran, Cuba and Venezuela are only threats from a terrorist perspective as a military or country their are like pesky flies that US military could destroy with one flick of a fly swatter. Cuba has no way of seriously hurting the US except thru terrorism and nothing in current policy would stop that terrorist attack. I know republicans want to see an enemy under every rock but sometimes our only enemy is our own fear.
