Where are the wingers now?

C’mon, usual suspects.
Here I sit, waiting in vain to hear how Scott “the Snitch” McClellan has betrayed all that is good and right and true, how he is obviously lying (though couldn’t possibly have been lying in the years he acted as Teh Leader’s press secretary) - and how, most of all, the War in Iraq was gravely necessary even though we now have evidence that even the architects of the war itself knew it wasn’t “necessary.”
Or are you willing to concede all this - that the evil lib’rulz who have been saying these things for more than five years were, in fact, exactly right?
Of course you’re not willing to concede this. The one thing a right-winger will never do is admit that he was ever wrong.
But all this is of a piece with the business about Israel’s nukes, and how Jimmy Carter - and everyone else - is supposed to pretend they don’t exist.
It is apparently a cornerstone of the conservative mindset that the American public must be actively deceived as often as is necessary in order to achieve the glorious goals that Our Leaders have decided upon in secret.
Only in ignorance can there be the necessary strength. Sell the fear, because reality won’t sell. Embrace the fear as reality; and accuse all others of weakness. Our misconceptions are to be perpetuated - for they serve a greater purpose.
We lie for the sake of truth.
This is how the conservative movement has manifested itself, in our governance, these past seven-plus years, that is what McClellan’s book confirms. It is a rather large nail in the already rotting coffin of the conservative movment, the burial a virtual certainty at last.

We have suffered through two more years of lies and crimes becuase she was unwilling to prosecute a war criminal President Bush and VP Cheney. For that reason I label her an appeaser and I hope she is not reelected speaker. |

Add that to the list of nothing else she's done since becoming "leader".

Nah, maybe you can't Yes this is about Bush the worst president of my life worse than Nixon who was impeached or Clinton who was impeached. Bush a War Criminal, violater of geneva conventions, betrayer of the constitution, Bush a liar to the American public should have been impeached two years ago instead becuase of Pelosi we are stuck in a Freddy Krueger movie far too long. Yes this is about Bush, its about a yellow press, a lap dog dem and rep party and a uninterested American public that cares more about lapel pins than war crimes. Yes this is all about Bush |

Oh you knew he was PO'd huh? Kind of like you "knew" he wasn't at the White House for very long? He wasn't fired either. You really have no idea what your talking about do you? Stop listening to Fox news and go do some research on your own. |

Actually, I'll agree with this.
At a time when the Democratic Party had a chance to really try and right some of the wrongs that have been committed in the past seven years - what have they really done? Where is the forceful challenge to the administration's policies? Where is the repudiation of those policies?
To echo Sullivan, if what McClellan writes about the adminsitration fixing the intelligence around the policy is correct - who in Congress is going to utter the word impeachment on the floor? Who has the guts?

Unfortunatly, no one does. The country was too damaged by Clinton's impeachment over lying about a BJ. You know, the most important reason to impeach a President . . . not. No one wants to go through that again. But, I'm sure, if there were a way to impeach Bush for not wearing a lapel pin, some would find a way.
But seriously Gil, if there were a way to prove it, maybe it would be done. Like you said, IF what McClellan says is true. How do we find out for sure? The only ones who really know, won't talk - you know, executive privilege and all.

Actually I knew he was there just shy of 3 years and I (we) listened to him knowingly mislead us, such sheep I am.
So being forced out does not equal firing in your mind? What would you call it?

Oh you did now? Then why didn't you say that in the other thread? You just said a short time. Almost 3 years isn't a short time in my mind.
And where you seeing that he was forced out? Let me guess your just making that up too? |

Because I find it interesting that this is the first time you've brought up anything about him. You had to wait for a book? He's been with "Bush" since 1999 and by his own account doesn't believe what he's seen and heard.

So the reason you didn't say he was there for 3 years is because you find it interesting i've never brought him up before? Keep changing the subject. Honestly i feel like i'm talking to a 3rd grader. Everytime you catch him lying, he just changes the subject again, and again. Or you just starting making up things, like that he was fired etc. Ok whatever you say bud. Why don't you go run along now.

Go to sullivan or atrios or some other site to copy your opinion, because going out on your own is a little dangerous for you. Or you could always go to your failsafe life preserver--gay marriage. |

That's because all of them are in the pockets of the same corporations.
Independent Presidential Candidate, Ralph Nader, began writing about the impeachment of Bush and Cheney in 2005. Right after he announced his presidency earlier this year, he placed the impeachment of Bush and Cheney onto his campaign platform. Of course, most never heard about this, because the media doesn't like to confuse people with third parties, it hurts the ratings. (When people start thinking too much they forget to focus on consuming things)
I do think others are correct, congress is afraid, the office has taken a few big shots in the arm. But that is precisely why the people really do need to shout out loud and place a call to action and demand an impeach investigation. Why not? Seems there is plenty of questionable activity long before this new book came out.
(Say what you will about Nader, but the guy has saved more lives than Bush has taken, improved the quality of life for more workers than coffee, and I'll just bet you he has written more books than all the other presidential candidates combined.)

Bush won't be impeached due to no grounds for impeachment, not to mention the liberal leadership is too busy stepping on their tools...hehe.

Christopher 5/29/08 11:12 AM | This is is hardly the first former Bush administration official to criticize his former boss and shine a light on the deception and manipulation involved in entering into an unneccesary war. The tone is a little harsher, is all. George Tenet's tell-all basically tells the same story using language somewhat easier to swallow for most apologists of the worst administration we will likely endure in our lifetimes. Same with Richard Clarke's book, same with Paul O'Neill.
The one who needs to come clean on the same level as McClellan is Colin Powell, who knows better than anyone the lies that factored into this war crime and whose reputation would make it an easier 'sell' to anyone still ignorant or gullible enough to still believe anything coming out of the mouths of the Bush administration.
Scott McClellan is an American hero for doing this.
