Jenna Bush backs marriage equality

Jenna Hager these days, actually:
John McCain may disapprove of Ellen DeGeneres and partner Portia DeRossi’s intentions to marry, but there’s another Republican who is only too happy to help with the upcoming nuptials: Jenna Hager.
The first daughter, who herself got hitched May 10 at the Bush family spread in Crawford, Texas, appears with her mother, Laura Bush, on next Wednesday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Among Jenna’s topics with the host (the show was taped Thursday) is the wedding at the ranch, with the bride even showing off snapshots from the reception.
Observes DeGeneres: “So, the ranch was a great place to get married – it looked like nobody could fly over and get pictures or bother you, really.”
“Yeah,” concurs Hager, “that was really nice” – which prompts DeGeneres to ask, “So, can we borrow it for our wedding, can we get the ranch?”
“Sure,” replies an obliging Hager.
“Okay, great,” says DeGeneres.
As Sullivan says, “When the president’s own daughter backs marriage equality, you know what the future is.”

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post. See not all republicans are bigots. As was pointed out in a previous blog this gay hoopla is a generational thing and will not be an issue with the next generation as interacial marriage is no big thing now but was the worst thing a person could do was marry outside ones race or religion when I was a youngster. |
harv1 5/28/08 12:35 AM | I believe there are many free-thinking republicans. We have them on this forum.

Thats quite a stretch Gil, but with you its expected. Trying to claim Jenna endorses marriage equality because she flippantly agreed to let Ellen borrow her
wedding dress hardly amounts to Jenna backing marriage equality. No where in the article does it suggest she condones same sex marriage. Try again.

GWBush is a liberal. He is the biggest spender in history and he is the biggest borrower in history. He created the biggest entitlement in history.
He has taken Government intrusiveness to its' highest level in history.
All hallmarks of liberalism run amuck.
So why do Lancaster Co. conservatives support him so ferverently?

(sigh)

Hey segjt, try doing alittle reading before ya go spouting off like a moron again. Jenna Bush has stated that she doesn't have a problem with gay marriage. So why don't you try again??

So why do Lancaster Co. conservatives support him so ferverently? I've been wondering the same thing. The terms "liberal" and "conservative" no longer apply to spending, government intrusion into private lives or regulation of the market economy. It seems that for the past 8 years the terms only apply to "moral" values and religion. Odd isn't it? |
