John & Barack

Once again via Dave Pigeon, who seems to be getting there a step before me (hardly a surprise; he’s thinner) - John Edwards is endorsing Barack Obama:

Edwards, who received a thunderous ovation when Obama introduced him to a crowd of several thousand, said, “brothers and sisters, we must come together as Democrats” to defeat McCain. “We are here tonight because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I.”

He said Obama “stands with me” in a fight to cut poverty in half within 10 years.

Edwards also praised Clinton, saying “we are a stronger party” because of her involvement, and “we’re going to have a stronger nominee in the fall because of her work.”

He said Clinton is a “woman who is made of steel. She is a leader in this country not because of her husband but because of what she has done.”

Well, and that’s both appropriate and correct. Hillary has incurred a lot of ire, I think, via her refusal to give up the ghost; but if in fact the nominee is Obama, even if she’s not on the ticket she will, I think, be true to her word; back the nominee, and the party.

But it seems pretty clear - as it has - that Obama is the nominee. Edwards’ endorsement is key; it’s been a prized thing all along. He did it with class, deference to both sides. And this is obviously going to be a factor in terms of superdelegates; their defection will accelerate, I suspect. It is time, they’ll agree, for the party to unite around Obama. I suspect even Hillary will acknowledge that long before we get to June.

Shame he didn't do it with testiculer fortitude and do it before it became obvious that Obama was the winner. Doesn't take any guts to come out and say hey I support the winner now how about giving me the AG job.

Edwards is a phony and a fraud loser with no testiculars. He used the announcement of his wife's illness to try to get sympathy votes, which was showed his total lack of class.

I remember him and Hillary speaking after a debate with the mike on conspiring to get the rest of the candidates out of the debate circuit. Obama was pissed. Now it's a love fest.

What's his carbon footprint? Ever see the house he built and what it takes to run it? So you turn down your heat and up the A/C thermostats.

I think he would make a great VP candidate. Again.

Are you kidding?

He waited until it was clear who the nominee would be then he endorsed Obama.

It doesn't take class, it doesn't take deference toward Clinton and it doesn't take any guts.

I will not vote for Edwards. He's a slimball lawyer. He is one of the reasons why doctors have such high insurance premiums, especially the OB/GYN doctor, which in turn makes our insurance cost skyrocket. Here is just ONE example:

http://www.cnsnews.com/viewpolitics.asp?pa...l20040120a.html

Edwards became one of America's wealthiest trial lawyers by winning record jury verdicts and settlements in cases alleging that the botched treatment of women in labor and their deliveries caused infants to develop cerebral palsy, a brain disorder that causes motor function impairment and lifelong disability. The cause of cerebral palsy has been debated since the 19th century. Some medical studies dating back to at least the 1980s asserted that doctors could do very little to cause cerebral palsy during the birthing process.

The real reason that neither Obama, Clinton, or Edwards want to confront the real issue is stated in your second sentence. They are lawyers. Lawyers in general make money off the suffering of others.

Here's the real solution to the price of health care: Tort reform. Get rid of the opportunity for frivolous lawsuits so Doctors don't have to pay so much for insurance. Stop putting a bandaid on a bleeding stump and cauteurize the darn thing. Are there some medical malpractice lawsuits that have validity? Sure. Are the bulk of malpractice lawsuits frivolous? Most likely yes.

See http://ezinearticles.com/?Malpractice---Me...stics&id=138216. and http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/medical-malp..._statistics.htm

Some interesting statistics there...what is it? 83% of the malpractice lawsuits in the U.S. in 2001 originated in just 75 counties...which happen to be some of the wealthiest counties in the country. Of those suits, only 33% were found in favor of the plaintiff. Which indicates that the large majority of malpractive suits are frivolous.

Imagine how much more money could be saved if Tort reform were to really happen...but, the lawyers on capitol hill protect their own.
