There’s a riot goin’ on

Or Rush hopes for one, anyway:
Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is sparking controversy again after he made comments calling for riots in Denver during the Democratic National Convention this summer.
He said the riots would ensure a Democrat is not elected as president, and his listeners have a responsibility to make sure it happens.
“Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don’t elect Democrats,” Limbaugh said during Wednesday’s radio broadcast. He then went on to say that’s the best thing that could happen to the country.
Dreaming of 1968, he is. GOP electoral chances rely on Abbie Hoffman somehow coming back to life.

UncommonSense 4/26/08 11:33 AM | Rush had it only half correct (there are two political parties), and it's not a riot which is needed - it is a revolution, perhaps. I am certain the British Crown considered the Continental Congress a riotous act, if not outright sedition.
Our government and the alledged "power brokers" who continually avoid pertinent issues like an intelligent energy policy; immigration; food production, consumption and distribution; economic policies that allow a true level "playing field" and the like, need to begin to feel a sense of trepidation relative to the discontent the electorate is experiencing.
Note: this is not a call for more or less services, more or less welfare programs, more or less defense spending etc. This is a call for government, neither Liberal nor Conservative, simply intelligent and just. Such government then needs to address the aforementioned issues along with many, many more - and in a timely fashion. A great for instance, earlier this week a cabinet secretary commented on the Bush adminstration call for average fuel efficiency to rise from 25mpg to 31.6 mpg - by 2015. My question, is this the best we can do?
Hopefully both The Wingers and Teh Leftnut's of the country can wrap their brains around this. Perhaps they can see beyond their candidate or their adgenda and call for what is best for the country, including the sacrifices we may need to make right now.
Paraphrasing a great quote, People should not fear their government, the government should fear the people.
But, most likely we'll just cobtinue to bltch and moan about McCain's Wealthy wife, Barack's lack of a lapel pin, Hillary's obnoxious laugh etc.
Is this the best we can do?

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post.
So even The Fatman believes that the only way McCain can get elected is if there is rioting and mayhem at the Democrat Convention.
