Via Kos, Republican (of course) congressman Geoff Davis of Kentucky says this, over the weekend, about Barack Obama:
“I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button,” Davis said. “He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”
Emphasis added.
You do know how a previous generation (also named “Jeff Davis”) used that term, of course. And you know what? I’m betting this Davis knows it well - chose the word carefully and specifically. Or, equally as bad - subconsciously, but for the same though less calculated reason.
If Obama does win the nomination, we’re going to see so much of this it’ll make your head spin. And the usual suspects will be outraged, outraged, at the suggestion it’s all calcuated. I’ll grant that not all of it will be; some will just ooze out. But either or, it’s going to hurt the GOP, particularly with young voters, far more than it hurts Obama.
