Wouldn’t want to be like you

And now, YA-TA-TA-TA…
In an interview with ABC News yesterday, Vice President Dick Cheney asserted that President Bush “carries the biggest burden” of the Iraq war and even compared staying the course in Iraq to the pardoning of President Nixon. But Cheney also took time out to insult Sens. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY) for “announc[ing] that the solution in Iraq is to withdraw,” calling them “wannabes.”
“Wannabe” what? A failure and a liar, like our current vice president?
That’s Cheney’s world!

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post.
When Cheney was asked about the recent poll which showed 70% of Americans want US out of Iraq Cheney's response was "SO"
When asked about the sacrifice of 4000 US soldiers in Iraq Cheney's response was : " Well they volunteered"
What an ASP

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post. He should have referred to Obama and Clinton as liars. Since you, Gil, have said that they will not execute a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq, that means that they are both lying now on the campaign trail. I wouldn't want to be them.

How about posting the full response, or do you have a problem with honest, straightforward discussions?

Here's the question and the response. Not what you posted. I guess only conservatives lie. Cheney said he had no reaction to American troops who support Obama's position on withdrawing from Iraq voting for the Illinois senator.
"They're a broad cross section of America. I think they've overwhelmingly supported the mission. Every single one of them is a volunteer," Cheney said.

So now its ok for Republicans to take things out of context to go after Dems but not so for the Dems to do it back? So how much does Fox pay you to post on here again?? Thats gotta be a good gig.

tourman 3/25/08 4:44 PM | Ever take the time to actually watch Fox, or is that just to far a stretch for you?
I enjoy the views presented by Alan Colmes, Ellis Henican, Juan Williams, Greta Van Sustren, Kirsten Powers, Bob Beckel....I could go on with the list, but maybe you get the point....they are all Liberal DEMOCRATS!! And at the same time, Fox News Anchors and contributors...amazing, huh?
If you ever left the confines of your own little bubble, you may actually find FOX to be your friend as well!
I know...it's scary to leave the land of make believe behind.... |

In the past few weeks, I have actually looked at Fox news. I did so for a reason. CNN and MSNBC are extremely pro-Obama to the point that they are constantly stating things like "Clinton cannot win the delegates needed, it is mathematically impossible" while ignoring the fact that Obama can't win them either. NEITHER candidate can win the number of delegates needed for the nomination and Superdelegates will choose.
Why do they constantly point out that Clinton cannot mathematically reach the number but they don't point out the fact that Obama can't possibly reach the number either?
I don't think Fox is fair and unbiased, it's extremely biased, but so is CNN and MSNBC, just in a different direction. I've decided that by looking at all the sources, then finding the overlap is the best way to get the true story.

LOL, now this is worth a chuckle. Look, by now everyone should know that every news agency is bias. It is a matter of ratings. The people at FOX are smart. There was a market that was not represented in the mainstream news and so they exploited it. It was a business decision and there is nothing wrong with that. Watch it if you like it. Don't watch if you don't like it. Some people think it is fair some not. They are right where they want to be and should be.
As for CNN and MSNBC being against Clinton, that is another LOL. The other Clinton was the media poster boy in the 90's. Could it be that we are all just a bit tired of them? And they are right, even though neither Clinton nor Obama can win enough electoral votes to claim the nomination it is quite clear that Obama will have a deciding majority going into the convention.
With Clinton not able to win the popular vote or the majority of the electoral votes based on the primaries/caucuses, she will lose with the super delegates.
Think about this, a majority of americans vote for Obama. Obama is black. A bunch of elitist super delegates that nobody knows trumps the popular vote and puts a white woman in instead. Anyone know the racial makeup of these elitist super delegates?
If this happens it will be civil war! Think Rodney King x1000. Our cities will burn!

I seriously doubt it. For example, there have been no violent protests against the invasion and occupation of Iraq (so far). People in the 21st century are so much more complacent than people were four decades ago. |

Not so far-fetched Artie. Breaking the reverse code in that "codebreaker" article says this is exactly what those fellas have insinuated.
Worse, some have compared Obama's wife to Jackie. I do not believe this government is above starting a race war to distract from financial issues, as well as to lock the country down, using the powers accumulated to the presidency by the current seat-holder.
Neocons means they are new conservatives. What were they prior? Dems. Could a democrat pres. get passed the draconian measures a republican one can? Think about the Dems posture of "of the people". Now the power is swinging back to the Dems. The Republican party does not resemble the one the neocons took over. They have exploited it, and are now jumping back to Dems. I don't think McCain stands a ghost of a chance. |

dragonrider 3/26/08 10:06 AM | Mine are all alive and well.
US is a right of center country: Anti choice on abortion, anti gay rights, prodeath penalty, pro gun, etc all make US right of center in the modern world.
In the US it is almost impossible to find any news that is about the US so like an ant who lives its whole life on a tree trunk the ant would describe the world as a tree trunk so those who live in the states describe the world based on what they see a right of center country that they think is centrist. So easy to label people left wing who are centrist or slightly left of center.
|
tourman 3/26/08 10:26 AM | That seems to work both ways. I don't consider myself hardline either way. Centerist would more describe it, although with the issues you mention above, I tend to lean more to the right. Not all, however- Gay rights-I believe they should become an individual choice. I have Gay relatives, and some friends wwho are Gay as well. I have never seen them for anything more or less than what they are as individuals, and respect them for it. One of the cousins has a life mate, and they adopted 2 boys years back. I feel it was a blessing for those 2 children to be given a home where love and care would be theirs...I have neighbors who are a Lesbian couple- we get along great- they come over and enjoy my pool on a regular basis in the Summer- we have a wonderful relationship, and again, I see them as happy, respected individuals.
So, with all of the Partisian argueing that goes on, we are all probably more Centrist than we admit ....too bad- the world would be a much better place if we were to concede that were the case.
