Name games with McCain

Hm. So here’s John McCain saying that, no no no, we shouldn’t read anything at all into his little gaffe about Iran arming Teh Most Nefarious Terrorists of Ever, al Qaeda:
Asked if it’s “a fair question” to wonder if it was more than “simply a slip of a tongue,” McCain replied that “to think that I would have some lack of knowledge about Sunni and Shia after my eigth visit and my deep involvement in this issue is a bit ludicrous.”
Yes, it is indeed ludicrous - isn’t it?
But as ThinkProgress notes, elsewhere in the interview McCain played the old GOP word association game:
While NBC aired only a snippet of O’Donnell’s interview, in the full video, which is posted online, McCain also played the common conservative game of using “intentionally deceptive language” to blur “the differences between groups with different goals and ideologies in order to create the illusion of a united Islamofascist enemy”:
Al Qaeda is military. Al Qaeda is killing Americans as we speak. Islamic extremists are being trained in Iran and they are being sent back into Iran, I mean into Iraq.
Your average right-winger absolutely, positively believes in a united Islamofascist enemy. McCain’s “gaffe” specifically reinforced that.
But, you know, he’s sorry.
So long as it helps, he can afford to be.

Post your thoughts and comments about this blog post. So it was an intentional gaffe? But then it wouldn't be a gaffe, would it? So let's just call it a lie. That way you guys can get the ball rolling early, just in case we have a McCain Administration. This is more of an issue of liberal paranoia.

Looks like most Americans agree with you Joe. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows John McCain’s lead growing against both potential Democratic opponents. McCain currently leads Barack Obama 49% to 42% and Hillary Clinton 51% to 41% margin.

Whatever happened to knowing who the enemy was?

Did I say that? Or did you assume that? Better to rephrase your question: Are you Ok with this? The answer is no. I'm not OK with it at all. It's rather disturbing that Lieberman had to stop McCain speaking and correct him. Perhaps it's McCain age, or maybe it's his style. I don't know, but it doesn't bode well for anyone.

Maybe some ginko tablets will help him, should he have to debate Obama or Hillary in the future.

Come on Joe. I was looking forward to November and possibly seeing another side of you, not a continuation of all that jr. boy , monkey, liar business. Have you heard McCain make a statement that Saddam was behind 9/11? Should I say that Obama will get all the votes from Americans who think the government created AIDS? Or that Hillary will get the vote of women who think men can be replaced?

It ain't over until the U.S. Supreme Court rules... You're correct with the first paragraph, so why blow it with the second?

We'll see what happens. He hasn't had too much exposure, especially compared to Obama and Clinton. If he can't perform, he'll lose.
