Is Fox afraid of Ron Paul?

December 29th, 2007 6:01 pm · 13 comments

Well, why else would the network be excluding him from its upcoming debate? Whether the network thinks him “serious” or not (and they should, based on his fundraising totals) - it seems fishy, to say the least, to consciously exclude the candidate who frankly is generating more heat than virtually any other Republican.

But maybe we just answered our own question.

Actually he should be happy. He will get more press out of this then if he participated.

It will be interesting to see how he actually does. If he finished with a paltry 2 percent, after all the hype and the money - then Fox and the "serious" pundits were right to ignore him, it's all a flash in the pan.

If, however, he comes back with 6-8 percent or even higher - how can Fox, how can anyone, possibly justify excluding him ever again?

No one should be excluded. If you are on the ticket, then you should be invited to participate. It will just show the mainstream how NOT 'fair and balanced' Fox really is.

The same press that has marginalized him is going to announce they marginalized him? Growing difference between internet news, and our mainstream media. Just one of the benefits of his campaign to highlight that gap.

Hello Everyone!

I just found out from a friend that there is a Ron Paul March downtown Lancaster that starts at 1pm, and goes all afternoon. He said it starts at the park attached to the police station!!

I'm going to go, and I had my Ron Paul yard sign delivered last week, so I'm bringing the sign with me.

If anyone else is interested in seeing other people support Dr. Paul, come on out and join the march!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!

Stewie, has the ASPCA been banging on your door lately? I mean there's gotta be a law about beating dead horses.

First of all, abolishing the IRS is a batshit crazy idea. The idea that you can fix a problem by either abolishing the agency with problems (IRS, Fed) or pulling out completely (UN, NATO) is anarchy. It doesn’t make the need for those organizations go away, it just replaces one set of problems with a worse set of problems. Ron Paul is one of those “free market” zealots (a scary breed of faith-based politician) who honestly believe unregulated capitalism is the cure for all of society’s ills. We tried that in the late 1800’s and we ended up with the Gilded Age, steel monopolies, children working in factories, Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, etc. This “Invisible Hand” !profanity! would lead us back to that awful time. Ron Paul’s rhetoric sounds good when you’re trying to get a crowd of people to pump their fists, but in terms of actually solving problems, it’s lunacy.

But then the guy is polling at a solid 3%

Really, Meat - come on man. A post can start out about any subject and your response is always predictable.

At any rate, I have not been able to find any other info about RP being shut out of the debate other than Gil's link.

Might want to wait to see what really happens. Of course if he is included the Paul supporters will take credit for their efforts. even is this whole thread is based on runor or BS. Any one get to the rally for Paul event at the park next to Police Department?

By the way most polls do not include Paul supporters becasue a vast majority of his supporters have gotten out of the mainstream party affiliate and are now tegistard independents, becasue of their disgust with the rethugs and the dems.
this my friend is the reason these so called polls are not registaring any votes for Ron Paul. Simply put they don't call these people when they do the polling becasue again their names to not appear on list of registard republicans becasue they are not there.

Our practice at ABC News is to develop a range of "likely voter" models, employing elements such as self-reported voter registration, intention to vote, attention to the race, past voting, age, respondents' knowledge of their polling places and political party identification. We evaluate the level of voter turnout produced by these models and diagnose differences across models when they occur. The use of political party identification in likely voter models is a subject of debate among opinion researchers. It's used commonly by campaign pollsters, less so among academic researchers. After an extensive evaluation of the issue, ABC News began employing party ID as a factor in our likely voter modeling for our tracking poll in 2000,

Sorry, that excuse won't wash with anybody who knows how polls are conducted.

Looks like ABC is excluding Paul as well. He will have to bring his poll numbers up and do better in Iowa - Guess rasing huge $$ on the internet is no guarantee of exposure or voter success at this point.

So, is ABC afraif of Ron Paul as well?
