Freddy: Loco en la cabeza

Whew. Thompson’s really melting down, isn’t he?

During what must’ve been a strenuous day of campaigning in Iowa, GOP candidate Fred Thompson told potential voters at his one-and-only appearance that immigrants deserve some of the blame for the mortgage crisis.

“A lot of them couldn’t communicate with the people they were getting the mortgage from,” the lagging Republican told an Iowa audience during his “Clear Conservative Choice bus tour,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

Janice Easley, one voter in the audience, was boiling with frustration at having to hear, “Para el espaƱol, prensa dos,” whenever she called the power company.

“Everything is in Spanish,” she said. “It’s sickening.”

“You are so, so right,” Thompson said.

First off: Illegal immigrants to blame for the mortgage crisis? Right. Evidence? Zero. But of course that matters to neither flagging Fred nor his potential constituents.

Speaking of which: A woman is boiling with frustration at having to hear Spanish when calling the power company? What - the usual single line of Spanish after the English greeting?

In what world is it “sickening” to merely have to hear a brief phone option in Spanish? Do these Republicans have nothing better to do than sit around and feel aggrieved?

Apparently not. But the way Fred’s candidacy is going, looks like he’ll have plenty of time to sit around and feel aggrieved with them.
