The end of Evel

Evel Knievel, dead at 69. And just a few days after he settled with Kayne West, too.

When I was a kid he was like a superhero. Always remember him “jumping,” or attempting to jump, Snake River Canyon in the “Sky Cycle.” And of course I had all the toys, like the Scramble Van, pictured below.

As a co-worker said - finally leaped that great chasm in the sky, I guess.

A moment of silence for a real man. Living legend no more.

30 years from now: Kanye who? Evil Knievel? oh yeah, that guy who used to jump stuff with a motorcycle.

The "corporate sponsorship" he proudly displayed on his leathers was the USA.

I was sorry to see the passing of Evel Knievel. I always enjoyed his 'stunts' when he was in his prime.

When thinking about Evel, I always think too of Super Dave Osborne. Who made me laugh a lot at his purposely humorous stunts that always go wrong (whereas Evel's always seemed pretty much to go right). A piece of fun trivia here: Super Dave and the actor/director Albert Brooks are brothers in "real life."
