Local musician gets pummelled

Holy smokes:

Shea Quinn thought he was dead.

As the well-known musician left Dorado early Friday after a Thanksgiving-night performance, he was sucker-punched by one of two men he’d had words with during the show, East Pennsboro Twp. police said.

As Quinn lay unconscious outside the front door at 1:30 a.m., two men kicked him in the face and chest, police said.

The pummeling continued until his saxaphonist, Fred Prayer, draped his own body over Quinn’s to stop the assault, Quinn said Monday.

“What they did was just really wrong.” Quinn said. “They could have killed me, I could have been dead.” …

Quinn spent the next three days in Holy Spirit Hospital until he was discharged on Sunday.

In addition to playing with the Luv Gods, which formed in 2003, Quinn was a bassist for the Sharks, a popular midstate band during the 1980s. Because of his injuries, Quinn said he won’t be able to sing for a month. A Friday-night event in Derry Twp., billed as a Sharks reunion, had to be canceled.
