Fox math: When 12 equals 1

Can they be sued for false advertising, do you think?
Recently, The New York Times did an analysis of the “face time” the various candidates received through midsummer on all networks and cable outlets. The distinguished historian Dan Carter dug a little deeper into the Times’ data, comparing the amount of interview time all candidates received on just CNN and Fox. Carter’s finding: On CNN, it was precisely six hours and two minutes for the Democrats and exactly the same for Republicans. On Fox, the news reporters and hosts interviewed Republicans for 12 hours and six minutes and Democrats for 1 hour and 36 minutes. Fair and balanced, indeed.

Maybe I'm overly sensitized but it seems to me that news about Hillary, Obama or John Edwards always includes some negative zinger. |
dodgecrew 11/26/07 12:10 PM | You are "overly sensitized"........ |
grieker 11/26/07 12:20 PM | Actually the math does seem to add up if you consider the many faces of each Democrat 1 does equal about 12
The lack of face time with the democrats on Fox is because Fox doesn't subscribe to the "rules" that are laid down prior to an appearance.
Fox is also "banned" from some events because they refuse to stop rolling when ordered to or ordered to edit out certain items of question.

LMAO if you actually believe those words you wrote you need to go get your head examined. Bush has been making "rules" about his appereances for years. All of his questions are plants. The man couldn't think on his feet to save his life. He can barely public speak, let alone think on the fly. I know what your going to say Hilary did it too, blah blah blah. That doesn't make it right. Fox was banned from events because of its "creative" editing. Making things seem one way when they were actually another. Theres a huge differance between being a news organization and being a propaganda arm of the Republican Party. Fox took plays right from the master himself, Goebbels

Hmm. I don't remember any stories about Bush taking planted questions. Did you read this somewhere?

Remember now; FOX network isn't a news network anymore than NBC or CBS etc. It is a cable station that contains news casts.
I'm not a tit-for-tat person and I'm quite sure the interviews given by Bush are "rehearsed" however the "open question" time at the end of his speeches aren't; or at I'm not aware of it and had not heard of it before.

The emphasis should be thus: Fox News Channel not Fox News Channel? Like That

They are planted. The questions asked to him during this time are planted by his aides before hand. A close family friend was at the recent visit here and told me it happened there. I had heard this years before when i was in college and he was making his way across a few campuses.

LicenseForMayhem 11/26/07 3:49 PM | IIRC, there was a man who attended the Jay Group assembly (which, contrary to assertions on this board, was not an "invitation-only" event) and told the local media that he was a little surprised he got to ask his somewhat confrontational question. If his account is true, then not all of the questions at the Jay Group appearance were "planted", if any were in fact "planted". |

Typical. Shows your fantasy world is totally made up in your little mind. No back up just imature statements.
You were civily asked to back up your statements. But you were tired of doing so?
Oh, poor baby! reminds of Michael Vick making excuses for his dog abuse.
Lysol54, you need to grow up - don't be so lazy - verify your info! with this group you better be able to back up your stuff. But, that is not important to you.

That all you have Art?? Grow up. I guess your some grumpy old man by those statements. Nothing else to come back with but that. Come one you can do better than that. It has nothing to do with being lazy. Ive just grown tired of trying to prove points on here with actual facts and info, to just be shouted down by people like yourself and hahaha. cyberscribbler 11/26/07 9:10 PM | Lysol54, It happens way too often, make a statement that's common knowledge to those paying attention, the usual cast of apologists raise their hands to hears yelling "nee-ner-nee-ner, i'm not listening"

QUOTE Bush aides and campaigns have well-deserved reputations for screening people [or strip-searching them, or making them sign loyalty oaths] who get into the president’s events to make sure protesters don’t get in. And when they’ve managed to slip into an event in the past, they usually were quickly ushered out. [Or thrown out by party operatives posing as Secret Service agents. Or beaten. Or jailed.] All of which makes it remarkable that a woman named Sherry Wolfe was able to get into, and apparently allowed to stay in, a Bush appearance in Lancaster, Pa. today at which he spoke to the local chamber of commerce about fiscal discipline.

hahaha 11/26/07 10:27 PM | nice link scribby - the snip you posted does not even show up on the page - plus what is that - someone's blog - we can all take that as fact - sorry - just needed to shout you down - you know because you posted a link - poor lysol don't like to be shouted down - can't handle it |

QUOTE A White House microphone, accidentally left on after President Bush completed a closed-circuit broadcast to a California audience, today confirmed what some reporters had long suspected: some of Mr. Bush's seemingly spontaneous exchanges with the public are actually scripted beforehand.
The President complained about problems with the scripted exchanges after a question-and-answer session with a teachers group, the Association of Christian Schools International, which is holding its convention in Anaheim, Calif. Mr. Bush spoke from the White House, a technique he frequently uses in "appearances" before small conventions, and his remarks were carried on speakers in the White House press room for reporters.
But Mr. Bush's microphone remained on after the broadcast ended, and reporters heard him grouse that the questions his audience had asked him had not come in the order in which his staff had apparently prepared him. 'They Flip-Flopped'
"These questions!" Mr. Bush told an unnamed aide. "We've got to get this sorted out here. It happened last week, too. Something's going awry here. I mean, if I just listen to the question, I can answer whatever it is. But if I think it's going to be on here, I don't listen to the question. I just look at this," he said, referring to a prepared answer.

QUOTE In an refreshing moment of candor, FOX New Channel finally acknowledged that George Bush's prior public appearances have been scripted. During an interview with pro-conservative, pro-Republican pollster and political commentator, Dr. Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia, in the lower chyron, FOX News actually posed the question "Is Unscripted Questioning a Good Strategy for Pres. Bush?"
The clear implication of this query could not have been lost on the FOX viewers. The message was that in the past Bush has been so afraid of a real question that he would speak only in front of friendly audiences whose questioners were "scripted," i.e., written to offer him the chance to drive home GOP talking points without the unsettling experience of trying to explain things to a real voter with real problems.

yeah, Lysol, that's all I got. Funny - I told you to grow up and you tell me the same thing! Very original!
Anyway getting back to something with more relevance other than Lysol - the original point of Gil's post, did the Times article mention that the Dems refused to debate on Fox? I guess not enough planted questions. If they had any balls, they would show up on Fox to get their word out.

usedmeat 11/27/07 12:01 PM | Or unlike the republicans, the Democratic candidates refused to pander to Faux Spews because of their well documented history of smears and lies about them. |

Hey Lysol - why don't you ask Dana, Jay or any of the questioners if their questions were planted? You have no idea what you are talking about, and it is clear that you are an idiot. But ya gotta love free speech - which, if your girl wins, will be gone by 2010 when Islam takes over the country. Better hope you aren't black, female, gay or Christian, because if you are, you're gone as soon they come in....
