Worse than Nixon

The Decider hits a milestone:
Meanwhile, Bush reached an unwelcome record. By 64%-31%, Americans disapprove of the job he is doing. For the first time in the history of the Gallup Poll, 50% say they “strongly disapprove” of the president. Richard Nixon had reached the previous high, 48%, just before an impeachment inquiry was launched in 1974.

The only reason Nixon was not impeached is he got out of Dodge ahead of the hanging judge by resigning. And, had he been impeached, he would have been removed from office, unlike Clinton.

When you think about it, it is pretty amazing isn't it. Clinton lied about a BJ and got impeached. Bush lied to start a war at the behest of his PNAC buddies, thus killing thousands of innocent Americans, and hasn't been impeached yet. Go figure?

Ya have to forgive Dodge, he has a real loose grip with any type of history.

Artie See 11/6/07 5:00 PM | Congress was already moving toward impeaching Nixon, that's why he resigned. I remember it all too well, Nixon was the first president I voted for. Nixon actually did rather well as president: he ended the Vietnam War, and he tacked domestic issues head-on. Had he not been inherently dishonest, history would see Nixon as a pretty good president. |

Tons of suckers believed Bush. Heck even Bush believed Bush. That is why they are going after Dick. Hmmm.... what happened to that? First it was April, then today..... nothing yet..... |
BillyC. 11/6/07 8:54 PM | Shawn, Clinton may have lied about something as insignificant in your mind as a BJ, and adultery I might add, but since he lied under oath while giving a deposition it was perjury....big difference. |

And GW Bush invaded a sovereign country based on a lie. Big difference.
Which is worse: perjury, or tens of thousands of needless deaths?
How would you feel if someone close to you died because of a lie? |

What is worse...perjury or murder? By the way, I never said that Clinton shouldn't have been impeached. It was really of no consequence other than to make all of the other members of congress feel self righteous. If it made them feel better about themselves, so be it. However, it was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

ahhh shouldn't the republicans be impeaching cheney for all the lies and corruption and death and destruction?
what they don't have the backbone to stand up to a nutjob whom the entire country has disdain for?
excuses anyone?

hahaha 11/7/07 6:40 AM | If that is the case, then should not all the mayors, representatives, governors be impeached because of the murders on our streets and the abortions in our clinics?
This congress has spent thousands of hours and millions of dollars attempting to prove your statements true. Like all good things in America, innocent until proven guilty. Looks like the Dems are part of the cover-up or they can't find the goods to bring the charges.
Sorry boys.
Meat, since you are so infatuated with Republican gay sex, you should have been at the election parties last night. I am sure you would have found a friend or two. |

wow...you are comparing holding bush/cheney accountable for their lies to invade iraq at a cost of trillions of dollars and untold deaths and misery to holding a mayor responsible for a murder on the street corner???
nice to see someone still holds politics above principal, or at least sees no problem with announcing it to the world as if it was some kind of virtue.
i guess if ignorance is bliss, some folks would be covered with blisters.

hahaha 11/7/07 7:11 AM | That is funny joe. You are the one always bringing up 'Thou Shall Not Kill' on these boards. Do you believe it joe or not? Do you really live by it? Do you choose, the same as many Christians, as to how you apply the rule? Seems like it. Killing is killing, if it be during a war, on our street corners, in our hospitals or in our death chambers. Did not realize apply a dollar amount makes one killing worse then another. |

Nothing like completely changing your subject hahaha to back yourself out of a corner. War and and death on a street corner are two differant things. If you try to argue otherwise, i'd really like to see that. As for hold Bush responsible for the war, that makes perfect sense. He used a lie to get us in there, false information, bad(fixed) intelligence, whatever you want to use it was a lie. We weren't attacked first, war was not declared on us.
Now a Mayor on the other hand doesn't ever say hes going to stop all crime, thats impossible. Can he help cut back on crime sure, but hes not the one responsible for the street corner death. He didn't send those people to go kill each other did he?? But keep up with your Repub talking points, only gonna take about another year and your gonna see the Party slip from any type of power for a long time in national politics.

The mayors, representatives, and governors didn't start a war based on false pretenses. Had any of the mayors, representatives, and governors taken definitive action based on false pretenses that resulted in numerous unwarranted deaths, then yes they SHOULD be impeached.
And thrown in jail. Forever. |
