The inevitable

Didn’t watch the debate. Don’t care. Hillary is inevitable - unless Gore runs, and who knows - and it doesn’t matter how poorly Hillary did or how much she flip-flopped, it doesn’t matter how she triangulated and parsed everything. Obama seems to be fumbling, Edwards is too far behind and we are going to get Hillary as the Democratic nominee and probably the next president. Which could be an absolute disaster for the Democratic Party but also the Republican Party, because it’ll be right back to 1994 again, the right will revert to its true cornered-snake form while the Democrats, demonstrating the “acumen” they’ve displayed since retaking Congress last year, will fumble and stumble and give the snakes plenty of red meat to feast upon. A thoroughly depressing prospect. Back to the future.

I don't think it's 1994 any more. Who is going to buy the right wing rhetoric of Newt the Grinch, or compassionate conservative? bwaa haa haa, (torture anyone?) I'm sure the Democratic party isn't going to be flawless, but I think citizen involvement is at a completely different place (ie; better) than it was 15 years ago. maybe I'm yanking my own chain. Time will tell.
