Calling ‘em out

Hilarious. California Rep. Pete Stark during the House debate on the S-CHIP override:

First of all, I’m just amazed they can’t figure out, the Republicans are worried we can’t pay for insuring an additional 10 million children.  They sure don’t care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq.  Where ya gonna get that money?  You going to tell us lies like you’re telling us today?  Is that how you’re going to fund the war? You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President’s amusement.  This bill would provide healthcare for 10 million children and unlike the President’s own kids, these children can’t see a doctor or receive necessary care.  […]

But President Bush’s statements about children’s health shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than his lies about the war in Iraq.  The truth is that Bush just likes to blow things up.  In Iraq, in the United States and in Congress.

Hillarious?

Undignified or shameful would be more descriptive of the remarks.

How bad it must to be a lib. NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED. They are powerless because they think Americans are so out of it that using politics to demonstrate the hate they have for Bush will actually work for them. More backlash is coming.

Recent flops - SCHIP, The Turkey/Armenian resolution and the Rush Limbaugh attack.

PS: The E bay bidding for the "Phony Soldier" letter Harry Reid sent to Rush's "Boss" at Clear Channel is getting close to I million $ . Rush will match the amount and donate the entire $ to the The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity which provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines. Check it out on ebay.

Harry must be wondering what the #%$ is going on!

i agree. it is shameful that we can find the money for war and death and destruction but not for the health of the children.

Right, The President only wants sick children.

President Bush is asking for a compromise, which the Dems refuse to do.

More political BS from the party of frustration.

Impotent Pelosi, Reid and Soros the pig.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe insuring everybody isn't the role of government?

Big oil this...Big oil that! We sure are getting cheep oil off of this war, aren't we? Aside for health insurance being outside the government scope, Bush's veto makes sense: Under the now defunct plan, wage earners of up to $80,000/year would have been eligible for the SCHIP progam. How many companies would pull a "walmart" and drop their health plans because now the government would pay...Its called "crowd-out." Healthcare is a private matter, not a government one...

And another thing, Gil, I'm really tired of folks like you calling this war "illegal." Ever hear of the "war powers resolution?" Yea, that's right, your girl Hillary voted to give the President the authority to act in Iraq!

The goal wasn't to give "us" cheap oil. It was to maximize profits for big oil. In that regard, the war has been a raging success!

What is occuring in the oil market right now has nothing to do with the war in Iraq. Big oil is making big profits becuase spculators keep driving up costs...that could have happened whether or not we invaded Iraq. Incedentally, investment managers like those who manage your 401k are some of the biggest oil speculators...your retirement fund is probably very successful right now too...

It has much to do with instability in the ME.
Nymex speculators have been going bonkers since the Iraq invasion and possible action in Iran.

The same way corn & wheat go up when droughts and floods affect the potential crop yield.

Look at what happened to the Amaranth hedge fund about a year ago. They speculated heavily in natural gas, which rose rapidly last year due to a prediction of another heavy hurricane season. Nat. gas was driven up to over $15 per million BTU. Amaranth invested roughly half of it's assets in natural gas at that time. When the hurricane season turned out to be light, the price dropped quickly. As Amaranth's value dropped rapidly, investors took their money out in large quantities. Amaranth went belly up and was forced to liquidate it's large holdings in natural gas futures, further driving down the price, until it was under $5.

Currently, oil prices have been driven from about $80 to $90 due to fears that Turkey will invade Iraq and attack the Kurds. Other fears in the area have kept the price high as well. If these fears do not materialize, and the price begins to fall, we may see the same thing happen again.

Speculation in things like weather and political situations is quite risky, and can result in huge gains or losses for investors. Unfortunately for consumers, it can result in artificially high prices for important everyday items.

of course they won't sell it cheap. that's why they ran the prices up, supply and demand. they have all the supply and they demand we pay $3 a gallon for gas.

let's see...two oil crooks in the white house, secret meetings with big oil approved by the supreme court and iraq has all this oil but we are there for democracy even tho they don't want us there?

well then why were so many republicans on board? shouldn't they just cancel the whole thing instead of compromising?

yeah like you ever gave a straight answer when asked about your religious beliefs. laugh.gif

just so you and the other lady know the question pertained to the role of gumamint and what they are doing. someone asked if the role of gumamint is to insure everyone and my reply indicated that gumamint is insuring that big oil gets to steal iraqs oil.

that may seem like a deflection but only superficially.

hope this helps clear up any muddled thoughts you may have.

oh..and the role of gumamant is to insure the safety and well being of all americans. you having your insurance and not wanting someone else to have theirs if it means your precious tax dollars go to helping them, while at the same time your beloved money is funding murder and mayhem and theft is not securing the people too well.

you are secure, millions are not.

that may seem fair to you but that does not make it fair.

it goes back to spending our tax dollars to fund a war that we are losing instead of helping the children.

Sorry joe, it is not about "not wanting someone to have insurance." If you disagree politically on how to accomplish something when dealing with libs like yourself, you want people to die, you hate children, or you are a murderer. But what can I expect from a morally bankrupt political party.
