Down Together

The Arizona music scene has produced some cool artistsĀ - I was a fan of the Gin Blossoms in the early ’90s, and I’ve got an old college buddy who fronts a band based in Tuscon, The Wyatts (”Tone, Truth, Twang”). I like the sound - Telecasters and a bit of a country feel welded to a rock and roll stomp.

The Refreshments, from Tempe, were cut from similar cloth, though lead singer/songwriter Roger Clyne was more of a smart-aleck; the band split up after 1997’s “The Bottle and Fresh Horses,” with Clyne going on to form Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers - same sound, with a bit more of a Springsteen vibe thrown in.

Wouldn’t mind doing this tune with the band, we’ve done at various times two others from the excellent debut album, “Girly” and “Banditos.”

Busy today, lighter posting.
