al-Qaeda, civilians - what’s the diff?

Noting a BBC story that reports Iraqis are saying the 17 dead “al Qaeda” we offed in a June 22 attack were actually civilians, Atrios nails it:
What’s the truth? Who knows. But the bigger point is that US military has no idea if these guys were “al Qaeda,” or, more specifically, “al Qaeda in Iraq,” which isn’t really “al Qaeda” in the sense of being “the bad guys who attacked on 9/11.” They may have thought they were “bad guys,” and they may in fact have been “bad guys,” but most likely all they know is that they’re dead Iraqis and we have a stenographic press.
When you’re playing all sides in multiple civil wars the bad guys are anyone you point a gun at.

Bush lets the guy responsible for 911 and his followers off the hook so he can attack a country that had absolutely nothing to do with terrorism and his followers cheer him on. Then he starts describing Iraqi fighters as al Qaeda, the very people he let walk, and they don't raise an eyebrow? |

Meanwhile the guy behind 911 and his top lieutenants are laughing at our prediciment from their airconditioned caves along the Afghanistan Pakistan border. Yes it's possible for al Qaeda terrorists to be in New york, thanks to Bush not implementing any of the 911 commission's recomendations because they would eat into his tax cuts for his cronies.

You mean diversity training for first responders?

yeah people who sell guns to those who would use them for criminal acts should be held accountable.
just like anyone who sells poison gas to a dictator should be held accountable.
i find it odd that you don't, but i guess that is what passes for being conservative these days.

He was hung for the only atrocity we didn't supply him the weapons for.
BTW paying palestinian families is NOT justification to invade a country.
Neither was posession of bomb vests.

Funny how Saddam got wacked before he could give the world the details of how we supplied him with the werewithal to manufacture and deliver poison gas and biological WMDs.
It was republicans that unleashed Saddam on the world.
