The League of American Bicyclists is reporting that 14.3 percent more people commuted by bicycle in 2008 then the year before. And, a whopping 43.3 percent more people commuted by bicycle last year then in 2000.

Bikes banned on downtown sidewalks

Lancaster City Council members voted Tuesday night to ban riding of bicycles on downtown sidewalks as a pedestrian safety measure.
The ban includes the area bounded by Lemon, Water, Lime and Farnum streets. It will take effect in mid-December.
