For those, such as myself, who have done the 178-mile Dream Ride Nightmare Tour in the past but realized, in a cognizant moment, that they haven’t trained enough to attempt it again, organizer Mike Ridgeway is offering an opportunity for a Nightmare-like experience with less training, and maybe, less pain.
Ridgeway is offering a 100-mile Nightmare course this Saturday, Aug. 8, while other riders are attempting the full course. The 100-miler begins and ends at Donegal Middle School in Marietta. It includes the original Nightmare course from Adamstown back to Marietta. That, of course, includes the infamous Swamp Church Road hill climb.
Anyone interested in doing the century can register in person at Donegal Middle School on Friday evening until 8 p.m. The cost of the ride is $50 - or $45 if you wear an old Nightmare jersey. Sorry, you don’t get a new Nightmare jersey by doing the century. You have to earn those.
