It was all over the news this morning, including in this Associated Press report, that Floyd Landis took a fall during a training ride Thursday and was then a no-show at a Tour of California press conference that evening. The race begins in Sacramento Saturday afternoon.
According to a tour official, Landis was “bruised up pretty good,” but will compete in the race. An account in the San Diego Union newspaper said Landis had received medical attention for his injuries. The Sacramento Bee newspaper has a photo on its website of Floyd post-crash at a Thursday night reception. He is not visibly injured. The Team OUCH p/b Maxxis site states that he suffered only bruising. There was no damage to his replaced hip.
The San Diego Union story is an interesting account of Floyd’s life in hell over the last two and a half years. It includes the revelations that he filed for divorce from his wife a month ago and is now living in seclusion, or in “Mennonite mode,” in a small cabin in the San Jacinto mountains.
