The forecast for Saturday’s Wonderland Cyclocross Race is cold, with a grass run-up, a sand pit and a few barriers to jump.

Lancaster’s only cyclocross race of the year begins at 10 a.m. in East Lampeter Community Park, 2320 Hobson Road. The event is being held by Christiana Cycling, theĀ folks that brought us the Christiana Criterium in August.

The 1.6-mile course promises to be challenging for racers and good viewing for spectators.

Online registration, at Bikereg.com, closes at 8 p.m. this evening. Same-day registration will also be available at the park on Saturday morning. There is a $5 discount for riders registering for a second race.

Sixty-seven riders had registered by late this morning. The race will be held ran or shine. Organizer George Metzler said there is “zero chance” of cancellation.

And, Metzler promised, hot coffee will be available.
