A Christmas gift for the cycling obsessed

Don’t know what to get your cycling enthusiast for the holidays?

The Valley Preferred Cycling Center has an idea for you. The Lehigh velodrome is selling naming rights to meters around its track. For $300, you get your name, or the name of the gift recipient, professionally painted on the apron around the track. You will also receive a gift pack that includes two season tickets to the velodrome’s Friday night races, a collectible cycling jersey and gift certificates to sponsoring businesses.

Meters will be available until January 1 for the $300 price. Any unsold meters will then be offered for $500. Each year after the initial purchase, there will be a $100 renewal fee. Proceeds from the fund-raising sale will go to support youth cycling programs at the track.

The meters were first offered for purchase earlier this month. On Friday, a post on the velodrome website said meters were selling quickly. If more than one person wants a particular meter, it will be offered for bid, with that spot on the wall going to the highest bidder.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a meter may contact Lise Holben, at liseholben@thevelodrome.comor Marty Nothstein, at martynothstein@thevelodrome.com.
